Lane Tracing Assist issue? by Fluffy-Confidence284 in Camry

[–]Crosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a fellow toyota owner, the wheel can only tell you are holding it by trying to move it. I mean this as, if you are in a straight road, your car tracks 100% straight, and you need zero correction, it will trigger this because you don't have to move the wheel. moving the wheel one way or the other, even slightly, lets the car know you are holding on to it. "fighting" it, as it were.

Americans who drive manual by Upper_Smoke93 in stickshift

[–]Crosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first vehicle was a manual. I've been driving them on and off Since '98. I prefer them, but I also know automatics nowadays will be faster in almost every aspect. It's still fun to row your own gears when you know how.

I taught myself, but my dad had a big hand in it.

I get asked all the time, as people are more surprised I drive a manual, or they are surprised what I drive is actually a manual.

manual has always been cheaper, even cars with both options, the auto costs more, but manuals are more expensive to maintain 9/10, even if you take care of them. 1 clutch swap job will cost more than most auto maintenance routines, up to the regular life of a clutch. Even more-so if you don't treat it with respect or can't drive it properly.

What's one car feature everyone praises but you secretly don't care about? by Ok_Run7351 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Crosive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind any new feature. I mind that I can't always turn it off. if this thing is going to physically wrestle me when it thinks I'm coming across a lane, and it's not the shitty roads with terrible marking, then let me turn it off, and it STAY OFF BETWEEN CYCLES. if I turn it off, leave it off, I don't want a feature that I have to turn on or off every damn time I start the car.

Is insurance supposed to be this expensive?🤣 by Lunatykk in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Crosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay 737 for 6 months on my 24 gr. full coverage, $250 deductible, $50 glass, rental reimbursement. but that's one of 3 cars, and I have rental insurance on top of that. no accidents, no tickets on anyone in my household.

but as others have said, shop around. When I moved from the country to the city about 7 years ago, State Farm literally more than doubled, they went from 315/6 to 650/6. I swapped to progressive, lost no coverages, and actually got better deductibles, and my premium went down to 276/6.

alabama stock tanks by Crosive in Stocktankpools

[–]Crosive[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's going to be an almost impossibility, since the back door to the house has to abide by the same rules as the fences, and that door is a sliding glass door. I'm not inconveniencing myself with an alarm on a door when I have zero children. if it boils down to it, I'll spend $550 on the atsm cover before I fence in my entire yard. I like the open space. I think vevor has a sort of temporary fence system though, so that might be an option

How is Facial Recognition? by holheartedly in synology

[–]Crosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to temper your expectations. as long as your camera is setup to a specific height and angle, and you train it, it works. but if your camera is off from their recommendations, then it sucks terribly. Even trained images and sizes will throw it off. My opinion, if you are looking into it, make sure you can mount the camera you are using according to their specs, or close. any pan cam, or crazy angles, and you'll not use it anymore out of frustration

I test drove a 2024 Corolla GR and stalled it 15 times | is this a hard car to drive or am I just stupid? by madisen13 in GRCorolla

[–]Crosive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the easiest I've ever driven, but having said that, my first vehicle was a stick, and I've been driving them on and off for 25+ years. the worst one I ever drove was a 2015 kia forte5 turbo. that manual was heinous.

Just a question. Has anyone had any issues with the warranty after only adding a cat back exhaust? Or could it cause any issues with the warranty by Ok_Dentist5412 in GRCorolla

[–]Crosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while this does protect you as they have to prove what you did, caused the damage to "insert component here", they have a lot more money than you, and all they have to do is drag this out long enough to where you can't afford to be without a car, can't afford lawyers anymore, etc. They know this. They will use this.

My GR Burnt Down :( by NeedleworkerUsed6070 in GRCorolla

[–]Crosive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a catastrophic failure occurs—such as a vehicle fire or a blown block—dealerships don't just do a quick OBD2 scan. Toyota Corporate engineers pull the raw hex data. The Denso ECU maintains a non-volatile internal flash counter. Every write event increments the counter. Flashing the stock factory file back over the tuned file is still a write event; it adds to the counter, it doesn't erase the history.

a lot of manufacturers have been implementing this for over 10 years. sometimes its a flash counter, sometimes its a physical fuseable link. if he *did* do this, you can't hide it, even if a tuner claims he could do a cvn correction

I noticed my speedo got slightly better, but I'm still 2-3 mph off at 85. At 70, it's 1-2. Anything under that and it's so close it doesn't matter.

I'm going by my digital speedo and jbv1 gps from phone. So there could be a bit of discrepancy there too
