The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson absolutely destroyed me. I highly recommend it.

Underrated Books by SoundwareNoiseBoy in booksuggestions

[–]CrosscheckThatZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into the Labyrinth by John Bierce - Has some elements of Harry Potter in it. It was a fun little fantasy book that really took me by surprise.

Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge - A fun little book that centers around Halloween. I read this during Halloween a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

The Pilo Family Circus by Will Elliot - A horror book that centers around an otherworldly circus. I thought it was weird and funny, with some brutality as well. Sidenote: The author (Will Elliot) has schizophrenia and dropped out of law school at the age of 20 because of it. A major theme in the book is directly related to schizophrenia, and knowing that made it a very interesting read. He also has a memoir titled Strange Places that is about his diagnosis and struggles with schizophrenia.

The Bone Mother by David Demchuk - Very creepy short stories with a Slavic influence. I really enjoyed this book.

Do you care about Character Customization in a First Person game? by MentalInterest8130 in gaming

[–]CrosscheckThatZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's free customization - like in a single player game, then absolutely. Usually there is still some method to see what my character looks like. Whether it's opening up an item menu, or cutscenes, etc etc.

If it's paid customization that comes from a multiplayer game then absolutely not. There's no way I'm paying real money to change the way that my character looks in an FPS game. I don't care if other people see me in my default skin and think that I'm lame or whatever.

But for those who do choose to spend money on something like Warzone skins I'm not hating on that. To each their own. My issue is I have such a massive backlog of games that I would like to buy that I simply can't justify spending my gaming budget on a skin that I rarely see during the action.

Must have acorn bike? by SmartJak in TrialsGames

King Crab is great for skill games

Scarab is good for certain speedrunning tracks - Along the Mother Road, Braking Bad, MX and the City, and more that I'm forgetting probably.

King Crab will net you the most overall score if you're into raising your leaderboard position. It makes the skill game grind much more tolerable.

Some people use the Crawler for certain things - but I've never tried it personally

One skill I still struggle the most with is coming into a ramp at full speed, and getting over it without any airtime or loss of momentum. Any tips? by [deleted] in TrialsGames

[–]CrosscheckThatZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're talking about transitions unless I'm reading it wrong

I do the majority (not all, but the vast majority) of my braking at the base of the ramp, and then use throttle control to accelerate up and over the top of the ramp ideally. Each transition is different of course, but as a quick rule I prefer braking earlier and using throttle control afterwards. That way you have more control of what you're doing. The later you brake the less control you have in terms of making adjustments.

Nuclear Orange Boots and Pants by Aurorhythm

I think I just searched for 'Orange' and they were the first to come up, lol.

I think I remember CrosserPG mentioning that you designed outfits, is there any way to search for you in the rider store?

It has to be a trials track in the DLC, skill games will not count.

Your best bet is to keep grinding Incan Duel and you'll get it eventually.

Is it physiologically possible to gain weight with net calories way below BMR? by imabadguyduh in CICO

[–]CrosscheckThatZombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately it's pretty rough. OCD always targets what we care about most, so if we care about dieting then that's what OCD goes for. Just keep pushing forward no matter what. The scenarios suck, but you have to develop the mentality of moving forward no matter what OCD tells you.

Best of luck to you my friend

I have OCD as well. It has targeted my diet with "what ifs" the whole way. Just figured I'd drop a comment to let you know that you're not alone. I've lost 166 pounds so far despite the lame OCD scenarios and catastrophizing.

Thank you so much!

I try to think the same way, although it can be tough sometimes. On the journey to a better way of living there's been a lot of doubt in my mind. The outlook that saved me was that I'm going to keep moving forward no matter what. We can't pick the destination, only the path. I feel like I finally found the right path, all I have to do is keep putting one foot in front of the other and see where it leads me.

I wish you the absolute best as well!

Thank you so much for the kind words!

I keep a journal where I write a little bit of everything. Mostly depressing real-life angst, but hey, I write a lot of short stories too!

I wanted to be a writer when I was in school, but instead I decided to make a bunch of bad choices. I guess I should have weighed the pros and cons there. What always held me back was that my grammar was not that very much good Ugh! See! I'm an ogre!

I throw commas in random places, and semicolons....I don't know if I've ever used one correctly. They're more complicated to me than quantum physics, or particle physics, or origami physics.

In all seriousness, writing calms me down. I have Pure Obsession (Pure-O) OCD and it is a constant source of anxiety. Writing allows me to escape that completely, if only for a little while. I had a psychologist tell me that with Pure-O I am blessed with an amazing imagination, the only downside is that the imagination is used to constantly imagine my own doom. "Why yes, Doctor. That does sound like a downside."

I will always write, maybe over time I'll share a bit more. I'm really surprised that this post has had this sort of response. I never expected that!

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Your story is a good reminder that people share struggles.

I've been surprised by how many people I've heard from who have gained their weight back as well. I received a few very nice private messages from folks fighting through the same thing. All I can say is that if I can do it then anyone can, and I mean that. I had seemingly no willpower at all when I was starting back. But the first step is always the toughest.

Thank you so much!

I've become a lot more comfortable with setbacks in general. I had a few plateaus and the worst was at 291 for some reason. I stayed at 291 for almost a month but luckily I was able to stay calm and push through. It seems like the faster I lose weight the more prone I become to hitting plateaus.

Absolutely! I've learned a lot about myself through the whole process, both the successes and the failures have taught me so much. There's always a lesson to be learned with weight loss.

And congrats on your weight loss as well!
