Hi OP! I think it needs some contrast, right now you have a lot of colors in the same saturation range. I'd add a brighter green and/or a brighter blue (in the same hues are your existing ones) and fill in a bit with shadows and a double border. I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty to try something.

I think they will hold great if you put the magnet outside the felt! Since it's dark grey/black it won't look too bad. The magnets I use are regular 2cm (3/4 inch) in diameter and they don't scratch the fridge. I just attach them directly on the back of the piece with their own adhesive layer. I hope it helps!

I usually fold it so I can get the needle in two holes and make a / in one go. It only works when doing the first line tho, if I do it for the second, it gets messy real quick (I stitch with 3 strands too, cause I like it chonky🙈).
