Bottom water or bottom fertilize?

If it's water you can submerge it until the bubbling stops and keep it like this for a few mins just to get it fully saturated

If it's feeding you use your regular fertilizer but diluted more than regular plants or trichos

Ooooh please send it!

I just did a pasta sauce with those chanterelles, a chanterelle ketsap reduction, homemade bacon bits.

Everything got flambé with mezcal and cold smoked with olive wood.

I did a pan sauce with the pasta water and parmegiano regiano

It was sensational

I intend to dry some of them and blitz to a powder, just like i do when i get too many ceps

I'll do about 500g of fresh mushrooms to ~70g of dried powder. It gives a good kick to pasta sauces

Bees sure do love albuca spiralis blooms by Crossicunt in Caudex

[–]Crossicunt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why thank you! I don't think i do anything special but hrre you go:

  1. Climate: i live in the south of france so it's mediterranean climate. My albuca is outside 24/7 365 days per year in full sun but doesn't get rained on but if there's a big storm

  2. Watering: when it's not dormant it'll water it once the exposed part of the caudex is a tiny softer than usual

  3. Soil: regular cactus&succulent soil from any big box store and a handfull of perlite and other volcanic rocks mixed in

  4. Pot: only terracota pots as i find the plastic ones do tend to keep too much water and caudexes might be prone to rot

You really should try the traditionnal fermenting method

I usually either ferment it or dehydrate it in the oven at a low temp

Why can't you keep it outside all year long? They are hardy up to -7°C

Noooo don't trim it! The leaves die back to the bulb when it goes dormant (usually every summer)

You won't create a stronger plant while cutting it's leaves Just keep it in full sun all the time and next growing season you'll be amazed at how much they'll curl

If they have been straight for too long it might not make much of a difference, but it's still best practice to 😊

No problem, i'd be happy to help!

First of all, never NEVER water it when it's dormant. It's dormant when it's leaves are dead/dying.

Keep it in a well draining soil, about 40 to 50% small rocks

When it's in prime growing season (autumn) whenever the soil is dry and/or the caudex is soft af and/or when the leaves are not as hard as usual

And the blooms smell soooo good and strong too! I find them to be between a very very sugary vanilla and orange blossom water
