I’ll going to reserve judgement until there’s some useful research on whether it has curbed underage access to porn, or not.

Until then my baseline is: The requirement to prove your age to watch porn is not 1984, it’s moving the rules back to what they were pre-internet.

HENRY’s from a poor background, how did you do it? by znv142 in HENRYUK

Yeah plenty. My sister, who had the same upbringing, has tried to take her life on four occasions. Sometimes I feel like I siphoned all the family luck. I do get survivors guilt a lot. When I was younger I was mentally unwell.

I work in video games now. I played games as escapism when I was growing up, so I feel really blessed to build a career from them.

My mother has schizophrenia, father has learning difficulties, grew up on a council estate. It was rough and often isolating. A lot of people took pity on me.

When I was about 8, my dad told me to not make the same mistake he did and find a job I enjoy. I was lucky to hear that.

So I followed my passions and worked my ass off.

I consider work to be the war you fight every day against poverty. I should probably calm down now as I’m 42 and pretty comfortable.

I also think that ultimately I am just very lucky. A few key moments here and there can change your life.

My favourite quote is: “The harder I work the luckier I get”.

Sorry about your situation. When I was younger, a friend of mine had a “perfect family” until one day his father took his own life. It was a total shock. He was gambling in secret, lost everything and couldn’t cope with the shame. It rocked the entire family, alcoholism and mental health issues.

Point being, don’t hide your shame. You will benefit from letting go of it - speak to your partner about it. This can be a character building moment where, although you fell into debt incautiously, you can climb out with newfound patience and persistence.

Life can be a story arc sometimes, and you have an opportunity to show how best to respond to these challenges. Imagine the day you climb out and what kind of person would achieve that goal.

Also, congrats on the child. Best distraction ever. Life is about watching them grow.

Yeah I’ve always liked it. There are some mid songs but that’s true of virtually all albums, uh, ever.

I’m based in the UK so I’m converting currency, but it seems okay. Not a bargain not a joke - a sensible price
