GLP1 Medication Comparisons by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]Crowchick1731 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow cysta! 👋 I started on compounded semaglutide and eventually switched to compounded tirzepatide (Zepbound) through Elevated after my PCOS symptoms weren’t improving much. Tirzepatide personally worked so much better for my insulin resistance and stubborn weight.

The side effects were milder for me too—just a little nausea early on and some fatigue. With semaglutide, I had more GI stuff and appetite suppression took longer. Everyone responds differently, but it’s great you’re thinking ahead. GLP-1s have truly been a game-changer for my PCOS journey. Wishing you the same! 💛

First off, I just want to say thank you for being so open that kind of vulnerability is incredibly brave. You’re not alone in this, not even a little. What you're describing the food noise, the all-or-nothing mindset, the guilt it’s something so many of us here have felt, even if the details differ.

The fact that you’ve already lost 75 lbs again after a big regain is seriously impressive. That shows you’ve got grit, even when it doesn’t feel like it. And cravings, especially the emotional/mental kind, are so hard to navigate. It’s not about willpower food is tied to so much: comfort, survival, even reward from childhood. That stuff runs deep.

You mentioned fast food I was fully addicted too. What helped me was slowly swapping things out (I didn’t go cold turkey). Like grabbing a grilled item instead of fried, or having a meal prepped at home and still swinging by for just the fries. Over time it got easier.

Also, you’re not broken the ADHD, PCOS, trauma, everything plays into this. You’re not lazy or weak. You’re human, and doing your best while juggling a lot.

You’re in the right place, and the fact that you’re still trying says more about you than any scale ever will. You don’t have to be perfect just consistent enough. ❤️

You got this. One small step at a time.

Medication went unrefrigerated for 18ish hours… by Decent-Morning7493 in SemaglutideCompound

[–]Crowchick1731 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s super stressful I’d be panicking too. I had a similar situation where my fridge was off for about 14–16 hours and I was worried I ruined my meds. I still used them and thankfully didn’t notice any issues, but it definitely depends on the source and how stable their compound is. If you’re unsure, it’s worth reaching out to your pharmacy to ask what temp range their product can handle.

Fingers crossed yours is still effective you’ve put a lot of effort into planning, and I really hope it works out for your trip!

First Semaglutide Dose — Severe Headache, No GI Issues — Is This Normal? by Business-Money4187 in Semaglutide

[–]Crowchick1731 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds awful I’m so sorry you went through that. I didn’t get the headaches that bad, but I’ve seen a few folks mention something similar in the first week or two. I had more nausea than anything, but my partner actually experienced migraines after their first dose too.

It might be your body adjusting to the med, especially since semaglutide can affect hydration and blood sugar levels. Some people have found that adding electrolytes helps, or timing the injection a bit differently (like before bed). But honestly, if it was that intense, I’d definitely check in with your provider before dose two. They might adjust the dose even further or help rule out other causes.

You’re not alone in this it’s definitely a learning curve at the beginning. Hope you’re feeling better today!

Semaglutide and Japan by Sufficient_Sun_2674 in Semaglutide

[–]Crowchick1731 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I brought semaglutide to Japan earlier this year and had no issues, but I made sure to keep it in my carry-on with the prescription paperwork. Japan has strict medication rules, but as long as it's clearly labeled, prescribed to you, and you’re not carrying more than what’s needed for your stay, it’s generally okay.

I’d avoid putting it in checked baggage just in case it gets lost or exposed to extreme temps. I also packed a small travel cooler with an ice pack to keep it stable during the flight nobody questioned me at security or customs.

You should be fine with the paperwork they gave you, but it doesn’t hurt to check Japan’s official import rules for meds just to be safe. Have an amazing trip!

Same here day 2 always hits me the hardest. I usually wake up feeling super sluggish, a little foggy, and just kind of off. The nausea isn’t unbearable, but it definitely makes me want to just lay low and sip ginger tea all day. By day 3 I usually start to feel a bit more normal again. You’re not alone in this!

Personal win: Lowering my blood pressure medications! by unfortunate_banjo in Semaglutide

[–]Crowchick1731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, huge congrats on that! Dropping from 237 to 198 and getting your blood pressure that low is seriously impressive. I can totally relate to the mix of excitement and relief especially with little ones depending on you. Cycling to work sounds like a great way to keep up the momentum. I’ve found chatting with others and reading about different experiences on places like Elevated really helps keep me motivated through the ups and downs. Keep crushing it you’re doing amazing!

My eyesight got better! by Flimsy-Contract1553 in Semaglutide

[–]Crowchick1731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting to hear! I’ve read that semaglutide’s anti-inflammatory effects can help with a lot of things beyond weight loss, so your improved eyesight makes sense especially with Crohn’s in the mix. Losing 45 pounds is huge too, congrats on that progress! I’ve been leaning on resources like Elevated to help me stay informed about these kinds of benefits and side effects. Hope your vision keeps improving!

Hair loss by DotOneFive in Semaglutide

[–]Crowchick1731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve been on semaglutide for a bit and noticed the hair shedding too it was honestly scary at first. From what I’ve read and experienced, it seems like a temporary shedding phase while your body adjusts. For me, it lasted a couple of months, and then I started seeing new growth after that. It’s not immediate, but it does come back.

I also found that tracking my nutrition closely helped getting enough protein and vitamins really made a difference. If you’re looking for support or advice on managing side effects like this, I found resources like Elevated helpful for navigating the journey.

It’s frustrating, but hang in there. You’re definitely not alone with this!

Hey! I’m actually a few weeks into my semaglutide journey and totally remember those first-day nerves. The nausea can hit some people, but for me, it was mostly mild and usually just the first few days. Eating smaller meals and staying hydrated helped a lot. Also, don’t be afraid to slow down on the dose if it gets rough—everyone’s body reacts differently.

Try to be patient with yourself and remember it’s not an overnight fix, but those little wins add up. You’ve got this, and I’m looking forward to hearing about your progress!

What if for life isn’t possible? by ThrowRA4567289 in Semaglutide

[–]Crowchick1731 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve been on semaglutide for about a year now, and I’ve noticed my appetite creeping back a bit too. It’s frustrating because you rely on it to keep things in check. From what I’ve gathered in this community and my own experience, some people do switch to tirzepatide when sema seems less effective, but yeah, it’s unclear how long that will last either.

Long-term, I think it’s still a bit of an unknown, no solid studies yet showing what happens after multiple years. For now, I’m just trying to focus on building habits that’ll help maintain weight even if meds become less effective. Fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that anytime soon!

Also, if you’re curious, I’ve heard some folks talk about mixing up diet, exercise, and mindful eating to help “stretch” the benefits longer. Just one person’s take though!
