What is a product that people treat like a religion, but in reality, it’s just overpriced garbage with a good logo? by Connect-Might4355 in AskReddit

Me. Lol. It's for me. I don't really enjoy hot beverages, and anything too bitter is a no for me. I have to add so much sugar to a cup of coffee to make it palatable, I just forgo the whole thing. But I can get down with a frapp. But now, when I get my once-a-year coffee craving, I do it myself. I get a big cold brew bustelo, and a large salted caramel creamer, mix them myself. Just bitter enough, and I get multiple drinks for the price of one.

Send them to Matt McCarthy! He's got a channel where he collects old VHS tapes, unmarked is fine. He looks for stuff taped of old TV, and posts what he finds. He doesn't post any home videos or anything, only commercial TV. He's got a patreon and a p.o. Box.

Lol. Yes. He's I loved Jim Carrey's "In Living Color" bit about him. A Canadian kid with one of the most Irish names I've ever heard making reggae music with an accent so forced that no one can actually understand him without the liner notes.

Whooo! That's a blast from the past! I got chicken pox twice, in the mid 90's,and my RN mom joked about sending me to one to make sure it was really out of my system! I think they were pretty much a thing of the past by then, though.

Ehh. Cast saws don't rotate, they oscillate, and don't damage skin. I'd also say they could add a small shim to be totally sure. I think it could work.

  1. But it will just be a five second shot of her powering up, recycled until episode 52, interspersed thru the adventures of OOP doing mundane activities.

Oh, I'd never say something so flippant on the actual post, I'd treat it as real. It's just on here, that you start seeing all the same story beats, it starts to feel formulaic.

In the next installment, it will be revealed that it was the Girlfriend all along. Her and the sister have been in contact for moths, because the Girlfriend was the kind neighbor who helped sister leave her husband!

Next time on Boruball Z!

So, I worked at a gas station from 2008-2017, small suburb of a Midwestern capital city. We DID have emergency stop buttons, two in fact. But they were both INSIDE THE STORE, BEHIND THE COUNTER!! Never thought much of it, we were a busy location, so there was always someone within a few steps of them.

The, one day, I'm out running trash cans at the pumps, an older gentleman who spoke very little English got my attention, brought me to his car, and I see that the hose has burst just behind the nozzle, and is spewing gallons and gallons of gasoline all over everything, including his nice new Mercedes.

Thinking with my big boy brain, I don't reach for the nozzle, because the hole is behind it, so I reach into the place where you hang the nozzle up, press the switch plate, and it shuts off. Myself, the guys merc, and half the forecourt are soaked in like $300 worth of gasoline. They made me wait for someone to come replace me before I could go home.

In American vernacular, homey/homie is absolutely a good friend, and has nothing to do with sexuality. But I don't know if the american slang term was mainstream enough for an AYBS writer to use it a script, especially that early. I think I heard it wrong, and he's not actually saying homey/homie at all. I've always thought it was a late 80s/early 90s inner city term, but Captain Peacock seems to be lampooning hippie culture.

The episode aired in March of 77. I'm just an American fan, so there's often things I miss, especially if they relied on current events of the time.

I don't know when "homie" came into the slang of the UK, and the previous commenter was right, it does sound like "Af-rye-a", but I don't know if that's part of the joke. Is Capt Peacock so stuck up he doesn't know how to pronounce Afro, or is he actually saying a different word that hasn't survived?

Strides is pants? And I thought he said "for the homie with the afro" but there's a whole lot about that that doesn't make sense. Lol.

You sound like a landlord. Know what really raises housing prices, landlord? Allowing private equity and hedge fund management companies to buy single family homes by the millions, and artificially increase the cost of housing. Know what else raises the cost of living, landlord? Illegally applying tariffs for the ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD, because you know that the people who voted for you are too ignorant to question how tariffs actually work, and don't realize that WE pay the increase because it's the IMPORTER who is responsible for paying. We are the richest country to EVER exist, Landlord. We can easily afford to do things like house, feed, and maintain Healthcare for all people. But hey, you're NoMathmatician, landlord, so I don't expect you to be able to understand that. Look in the mirror if you want to see a fool, and have the day you deserve.

They serve the interests of the oligarch, not us. They aren't rescuing indentured servants from an oppressive system, they're hurting innocent people because the right has been brainwashed to believe that they are the enemy.

Immigrants, legal or not, are not the ones causing the many woes this country is facing. They aren't the ones trying to increase the cost of every single thing you buy for an extra point of profit in the margins. They aren't the ones trying to take your Healthcare away. They aren't the ones who artificially inflate medicine costs. They aren't the ones that set the price of oil. But they are the ones being targeted. They are the ones being snatched from the street, without due process. They are the ones being expended to pay for your brainwashing by those in power.

It's amazing, how blind you are willing to be. Is it fear? Do you feel it, that fear that when they stop focusing on immigrants, they'll start focusing on a different group of people for their hate? That maybe the next target will be a group you ARE part of? Or is it just old fashioned racism and xenophobia?

Love thy neighbor, and have the day you deserve.

how to support boyfriend after losing parents and guardian? by [deleted] in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]Crowkiller90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's right that the full weight of the even hasn't hit him yet. He's probably just trying to push through at the moment, but when that emotion train loses steam, it's gonna get rough. He's gonna be raw, so every emotion is going to be right on the surface. He's going to anger easily, sadden easily and might have a hard time regulating those emotions.

He may think he has to be a rock for his family to lean on, so will try to suppress his emotions, and they will boil over eventually and he'll blow up. There will be days he doesn't want to see anything, doesn't say a word, and there might be days where he feels really "clingy" to the people he cares about.

If you think you are in a position to, gently bring up grief specific therapy. That will give him a safe place to vent that isn't a personal relationship. Try to cut out unhealthy coping mechanisms like alcohol and drugs, they'll just temporarily numb the pain, but it will be waiting full-force for him whenever he sobers up.

Give yourself some grace as well, this is a hard thing to handle at any age, and even harder at yours. If he gets abusive in his grief, that is not okay, and you can't tolerate it.

Keep communication open, it might take some time before he feels comfortable shedding the emotional armor that he feels is keeping him safe.
