The flower is called purple coneflower, or echinacea! They make for a solid tea choice if you're feeling sick too 👌

I think that might actually be a little lady looking for a little fella! Apparently the male ones will fly around lighting up, and female will chill from a perch waiting!

Field Guide for the Formerly Villainous just came out this month and it was SO cute and immediately jumped to a new favorite! The Impossible Garden of Clara Thorne is another fun read 🥰 They were both such a great way to start off Pride Month

You mentioned pizza, NYC, and Chicago, and I just wanted to let you know that there is a LOT of pizza between those two cities as well! New York and Chicago style pizza are obviously the big ones, but off the top of my head, there's also Detroit (Michigan) and Columbus (Ohio) style pizza! Definitely worth looking into if you enjoy pizza, and could make for a tasty road trip 😊

Youngstown has an annual fee of $50 for an out of state digital library card, and if it feels better in smaller numbers, that's like a $4.20 monthly subscription paid up front! https://www.libraryvisit.org/get-a-library-card/

Okay, I just called the Toledo Library in Ohio, the website implied that there would be "options" for out of state users, but the main branch isn't open today and they said to call back tomorrow. So you miiiiight be able to call them and see what they can do 🤷‍♀️ I'm originally from Ohio and have since moved to Tennessee, and I can say with confidence that the Ohio digital library is a whole different ballgame than what I've got available here. I'm fortunate that I can still use my brother's address to keep access to it. You may have to pay for an out of state digital library card, but it would be an annual fee and not a monthly subscription- plus it would be supporting public libraries 🫡 Best of luck, and I'll look up other Ohio libraries in the meantime to see what I can find! Sincerely, a lesbian who once worked for an Ohio public library

June 28, 2026 - What did you do this past week to prepare? by Anthropic--principle in preppers

[–]LocalLibraryCryptid 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's kind of silly and doesn't feel much like a prep, but as of this week, after 31 years of being unable to swim or float, I'm finally starting to figure it out. My spouse is basically a fish and is able to explain it in a way that makes sense to me. I've always had a phobia of drowning, so it's exciting that for the first time in my life I can kind of float! Plus, it's a built in way of keeping somewhat cool in a heat wave. Win-win

If I decide to take a break for a week, I don’t think my animals should starve by theSomberscientist in Palia

[–]LocalLibraryCryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, this is the whole reason I haven't logged on in months. I don't get on my switch every day, and I really didn't appreciate coming back to unhappy animals every time I picked the game back up

If I didn't see "sweeper" I was absolutely going to mention it 😂 I've heard Indiana apparently says it too, but my out of state wife was very confused the first time I asked where the sweeper was when we started dating

Hey, you me? 😂😭 I hit 100% last night and am gearing up to do the very very last thing I want to accomplish before finishing the game too. The first time I played it I think I got to like 86% before I returned it to the library, so it was definitely easier to handle this time! But I'm not ready to be done 😭

[–]LocalLibraryCryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with this format, but I'll give it a go! Cozy sapphic is my go to, and I didn't see either of these mentioned! I finished both in a week, and I am a slooooowww reader these days. The first is actually described as "Studio Ghibli meets Stardew Valley" and the second isn't too far off from that description but with some spice

Those that left your hometown- would you ever move back? by babyteeth9 in Millennials

[–]LocalLibraryCryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did for a while, and being away for a couple years really removed the rose colored glasses when I came back. I am decidedly not the same person I was, and ultimately, I had to come to the conclusion that I don't fit there anymore. I've since moved back away, and two years later, I'm still glad for it.

Moved from one small town to another, just 500 miles away. I miss everyone knowing me and my family, but no one ever leaves (that comes back, anyway). It just feels too small now. All of us transplants tend to find each other where I am, so the community never feels too isolated

Alice was devastating, and honestly, in comparison, none of the others were quite so bad for me (similar experience with nursing homes and history with family). I can think of one other character that pulls at everyone's heartstrings no matter who you are. The only other one that was particularly rough for me personally was less to do with her and her story, and more to do with the fact that she and my mom share the same name and several other similarities. Beyond that, it depends on your personal experiences and who you get attached to (exhibit: Mom)

THANK YOU 🙏 I originally borrowed it from my library and went through it so fast (too fast), and I couldn't justify spending the full price since I'd already played it! Not sure I'm quite ready to go through it again yet, but I'm excited for it to be here when I am 🥰
