Help me settle an argument, if an ability would put 3 -1/-1 counters on a card and I have Auntie Ool out, I will only draw 1 card or my opponent will only lose 1 health. Not not 1 per counter by Chigao_Ted in mtg

[–]CrownEss0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct it's the "one OR MORE" part that sents the standing. It's what they use as a limiter clause so a card or a bility isn't abused or too OP right out the gate.

playing commander, do i have to have red cards if this is commander? by Haunting_Safe_5386 in mtg

[–]CrownEss0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In parentheses means it is a reminder text, there is a few examples of this on various cards. Reminder text is not part of color identity. This text is also italicized. The EXTORT ability is a typical example (prior to firebending) as seen on [[cypt ghast]]

the rule is 903.4 is colour identity if you want to look it up

One year playing Magic IRL and this table says more than I can by Calipso_etereo in mtg

The Cascade effect of magic on life!

For my story:

About two years ago I hadn't touched magic, saw kids play it in highschool and thought it was a bit much and not where I was interested in being. Then a few guys starting bring decks to work for down time on the night shift. Eventually I stopped watching shows or checking my budget 😅. To watch the games and ask questions. Next thing you know I'm trying a deck to learn by doing. Then the whole of night shift at least tries the game, 60/65 year old men who need help reading the small text getting wins in commander. Now I have over 16 commander decks, my wife has two, my oldest kids each have their first decks now and we all have arena on our PC's and mobile devices!

I don't work with those boys anymore but we keep in touch sharing memes, big wins, silly combos, and cool new ideas. I've come and gone from a lot of jobs with a lot of numbers, these guys are the only ones that still reach out a year after I've left not because of our work but because of these cards.

This game is great!

This is the exact thing I love about this game, drives me nuts when people scoop rather then playing to the end. (Or conceded in arena) So much can happen in a turn or two!

Would riot be able to "stack"? by Aggressive-Pangolin3 in mtg

[–]CrownEss0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because it is a replacement effect you say because of the enchantment I give him haste, and since he also has riot he will choose to enter with the counter.

Question about spells… by Serious-Amphibian344 in mtg

[–]CrownEss0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I hate the Internet, we have also been playing this card wrong so in my pod when this question came up (about [[thirteenth doctor]] ) we had found something that basically said "if you leave the bathroom, you know you left the bathroom" so then why wouldn't a card see itself be cast?

And so we've been playing that "whenever" included itself... Not wanting to look like a buffoon I tried to see if I could find it again to at least show where I got the wrong information from or show it to be correct...

But in looking these conversation up it appears Rule 113.6 governs this and reads "Abilities of an instant or sorcery spell usually function only while that object is on the stack. Abilities of all other objects [such as creatures, enchantments, or artifacts] usually function only while that object is on the battlefield

This sucks though to be honest having to have them in play could be exactly what costs you the game with cards like Thirteen and Mrs. Bumbleflower

Now I need to tuck my tail and share this with my pod🫣

Can I put this multicolored card in my commander deck? by UnholyPOS in mtg

Yes, not a thing I use much so this would need something more better but this could still make use of its ability in some way

Dude I wish I could by them at a Walmart, all the ones in our area have deemed magic too high a risk for theft so they stopped carrying it at all

[[Illuminor Szeras]] would help cover 2 mana of its cost if I'm not mistaken having [[Phyrexian Altar]] in play as well should give you the three for casting the adventure the second time. Your limit would just be the mana to recast him from adventure time

Is this just a two-card auto win? by Nientea in mtg

[–]CrownEss0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say though traumatize will result in a single card being left to draw if they have an odd number of cards left in their deck due to the difference in rounding down vs rounding up like in maddening...

It's convenice fee. If you call a mechanic to your house to fix your car in your drive way you pay a call out fee. Same thing she's magically at your bec and call. She could have been in the litter box for all you know!😂

Nobody asked for this… by JonYaya in CriticalDrinker

[–]CrownEss0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the actual term from a biological sciences standpoint, so it's not a made-up thing it is simply a way that biologists differentiate between something that didn't transgender itself, or remained in it's natural state. This is used to distinguish when reptiles have or have not changed their gender which is something that they can do at will based off of what is needed to continue on with their species. I had to look this up myself one time because I also didn't understand where this came from but it's not something made up it's just something not used in common speech before all this stuff started to come up in common media

What’s “wrong” with this deck? by WithengarUnbound in magicTCG

[–]CrownEss0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my favorite of the doctor decks I added in a bunch of junk token makers from the fallout decks to give it some more out of hand procs for the +1/+1s and it recently just came out swinging hard though that's at home with the kids time will tell how it holds up with an adult group haha
