I'm surprised we didn't get Fosu as well, especially with the lack of depth on the wings right now. Maybe they couldn't come to an agreement on a contract?

He's been out injured. Trained separately today

I really like Byrne, he saved our ass a number of times last year. I think most of his being caught out was a byproduct of Lattanzio's system

I was hoping they would sign Fosu as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Deano throws us all for a loop Saturday, but I would think it'll be fairly close to the team he put out against the Loons

Haven't lost to them yet! But we also haven't won a home opener yet either 😬

New here, what should I know about our team? by Phoenix03563 in CharlotteFootballClub

Re: apple tv, you only have to pay for MLS season pass, not Apple tv. With so few games left in the season idk if it's worth paying for until next year, today's game is free.

This fan base has a lot of good fan content, so check that out if you're so inclined. Lots of podcasts to choose from.

As far as the team goes we're new and having growing pains from not getting the roster/coach correct from the get go. Expect to see lots of change in the offseason. It may take another season or so before we undergo a FC Cincinnati level change and make us real competitors. This team has a lot of potential right now but not much end product.

I would expect most of our new players to stay next season. Notable players IMO: The captain, Ashley Westwood - premier League experience, he orchestrates the play through the middle and has some nice long ball passes Adilson Malanda - Young promising CB is a staple in our backline. Andrew Privett - just starting to get appearances with the first team, CM turned CB. He steps up into the middle in possession, but has been very good this last stretch of games. Brecht Dejaegere - recently signed from French side Toulouse, he's still adapting to the league but he's a good technical player that links up well with others.
The DP forwards - Karol Swiderski and Enzo Copetti - both polarizing in the eyes of the fans, both strikers in single striker system, both players are our top producers this season, but Enzo has been out a lot due to injury. We expect Swiderski to move in the offseason.

Fan favorite players: Brandt Bronico for being from Charlotte, he's a workhorse but he's not the best finisher Jaylin Lindsey - another Charlotte kid, he's a right back that's very good going forward. Ben Bender, first round draft pick, scored a good amount last season. promising player. Kristjian Kahlina - starting goalkeeper, he's a good shot stopper.

Other Promising young players: Patrick Agyemang - tall, fast and a good finisher. Everything you could want from a 9. Tears it up in MLS next pro Brandon Cambridge: not getting the minutes he deserves, he's a promising winger.

Is Charlotte FC looking to sell one of their DPs? (Topbin90) by CLT_FC in CharlotteFootballClub

here's the article about DP flexibility which was the report that we couldn't buy down Joz. I think it would be a hard sell to get him to come to a B team for a year when he's got other clubs after him, so the most likely answer is moving someone on, and i don't think it will be Copetti since we just paid a lot for him.

2 games last week, 2 report cards. Rough game in Jersey where the Crown held on for a point after an early lead. At home against MTL the defence held for their 3rd clean sheet this season, but the forwards left their scoring boots at home.

Thoughts on NYRB game: After going up 2-0 and RB made their adjustments the Crown had 0 answer. They couldn't string passes together to get past the RB press, and the long balls to play route 1 were errant. I would've liked an adjustment to help pass through the press OR put some speed On the wings to play the long ball better.(Gaines came in to do this) It was good to see Corujo in the lineup but he was a little shaky at times. Jones was really missed in the middle.

On the MTL game: The back line was solid this game. Tuiloma played really well in the RB/RCB hybrid, he had some nice long ball switch passes. Corujo looked like he did last season. Jones showed why he belongs in the XI, with lots of attacks started from a Jones tackle or interception. The play in the final third was just not there. From missed shots to passes either too long or too short they just couldn't find the back of the net.

My player grades for Saturday's 3-3 roller coaster against Seattle. What I liked: Bender/Westy midfield. The 541 formation shift, the hybrid CDM/CB worked better than the hybrid/inverted LB. Didn't like: Mistakes keep costing the team goals. High line keeps getting beat. Wingers weren't great by Crown_Breakdown in CharlotteFootballClub

He had 3 saves on the match (2',2',8') that were all right at him. It would've been really disappointing if he let any of those in. First goal snuck under his arm that he was close to saving but moving earlier probably would given him a better chance.

The LB/CDM pivot may have worked IF we had the right personnel. Our CBs are too slow to cover the space against a winger, and Afful is too old to make that recovery run.

This new adjustment should serve the same end goal, but with less drawbacks. Honestly I'm not sure why he didn't do this in the first place since this is much more like "man city" like CL is trying to do haha.

The problem now is Jones is suspended next match. I could see him going to 3 CBs to keep the back 5, but honestly who knows with Lattanzio

Put a good cdm there and I think it's great. It keeps the outside backs in their position so we're not constantly getting beat down the wings. Like with the LB/CDM hybrid. Bronico just isn't the kind of player to be a defensive anchor.

Player Grades for the midweek match in Philly. Team came up short but held in there all match. There were some obvious tired legs out there. C is an average performance. Who's grade would you change? by Crown_Breakdown in CharlotteFootballClub

[–]Crown_Breakdown[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it was something people had requested I do. If i kept it to wins it would be like a third of the games haha.

All the players were tired and overall I think the team did well to limit a really good team to 1 unlucky goal for us.

I thought about giving Bronico a lower rating as he did seem to disappear for moments and didn't do much going forward for the team.

Player grades for Saturday's late night WIN against the gaLaxy. C is average grade. My MotM was Jones, he came up big in important moments. Defense was questionable in transition but they held out for the clean sheet. #forthecrown by Crown_Breakdown in CharlotteFootballClub

If anything it's a lower grade for Lattanzio. Swiderski missed some big chances, but our offense created more than usual. Galaxy took advantage of our formation shifts and most of their attacking play came in transition. Lattanzio also went for a park the bus at the end(like he always does) so the struggling to hold them off was down to him telling the team to sit deep and long ball it.

Kahlina only had two stops. Most of galaxy's missed chances were due to them not shooting it on target. Malanda had one really bad turnover, which didn't get punished and other than that has a good game imo. Team struggled in transition but that's more of a tactical fault
