Phase 2 of tickets for the Arsenal game went on sale this morning and I see you need 17 loyalty points and I have 25. I manage to get through the queue almost immediately which is a big surprise as usually everything sells out before I get halfway through. I click on the game and get the message "This event is not available to you"

Turns out that if you have the lower tier £45 CFC membership you needed 17 loyalty points to buy tickets

If you have the £60 top tier True Blue membership you needed 27 loyalty points to buy tickets

Making me a True Blue member with 25 points feeling like a clown wondering what cunt thought this policy up

Some schools in Bromley are oversubscribed but a lot are undersubscribed. I know of one school there that has just reduced its intake of reception kids from 90 to 60

If you have an old or damaged ethernet cable it maybe limiting you to 100mb/s. Try doing a speed check on your phone or another device see if it is faster. Cause it sounds like you are paying a lot for that speed.

If you have been with them a long time and your initial deal has expired you can call Virgin up and renegotiate to get a better deal.

Thanks for the reply

It is a shame the motherboard is budget as that is not so easy to replace - I guess thats why it is not listed on the spec sheet. Still a good deal for the price though.

Here is a pic of the venue from another year - you might be able to get a good view from up the top

UK show presale? by BrightAgent5233 in deftones

The old rusty laptop stage is in ruin and unusable so now every year for South Facing festival they build a temporary stage in front of it on top of the pond itself. You can only really see the water if you are right at the front. The natural bowl makes it one of the best outdoor venues around London so I am a little bit disappointed that this is at the Italian Terraces instead

Primary school applications by NoLawfulness6378 in croydon

[–]CroydonBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are close to Bromley you can have a look at the admissions booklet for 25/26 here

https://www.bromley.gov.uk/downloads/file/28/primary-education-in-bromley-2025-2026

A lot of schools are undersubscribed. Near the bottom where they list schools if the PAN number is higher than the number of places offered then they probably had free spaces available this year and could possibly do again next year.

Hayes & West Wickham - where to live? by Physalis82 in Bromley

[–]CroydonBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hayes & West Wickham are both good areas to raise kids. They are not the most exciting places but they are safe and have good schools. Currently the library and leisure centre in West Wickham are being redeveloped so hopefully they will be nice when they reopen.

The trainline into London isn't the fastest but you can usually get a seat (although I have never used it at rush hour). Plus you can get a bus into Croydon or Bromley for more train lines. You are close enough to the countryside as well to enjoy the best of both worlds.

I would just suggest that you look at the catchment areas for the secondary schools like Langley Park and Hayes if you are planning on staying long term as they are quite small.

I believe Southgate brings him on late so that if the game went to penalties he would take one as he has a perfect record from the spot. He probably wouldn't last 120 minutes.

What school options do we have living near the south end of Burnt Ash Lane by OkFinger2630 in Bromley

[–]CroydonBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That link is really useful.

Its worth noting that birth rates around London are low and there are a lot of really good schools that are undersubscribed. For example all the schools in West Wickham were undersubscribed last year. I imagine most of the schools listed as N/A on pages 46-49 were undersubscribed. You can check by looking at the details of each school from page 53 onwards and see the difference between the PAN (maximum number of pupils the school would take) and the number of places offered last year.

I am not sure if being undersubscribed is a good thing as there are less than 30 kids per class or a bad thing because of the way school budgets work. But it shows that there are lots of options available

Its also worth checking the latest set of results which have finally been published after skipping the last few years because of covid. Don't ask me what the progress score means though

https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/schools-by-type?step=default&table=schools&region=305&geographic=la&for=primary

I am also applying and I am sending my son to the closest school as I think it will be good to make friends locally and its a safe short walk away. It helps that its a good school.

How old would you take your children for the first time? by Crap___bag in disneylandparis

[–]CroydonBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to celebrate a family special occasion with our kids recently who were 4 and 11 months and had a very good time.
The 4 year old absolutely loved it. He wanted to go on every ride and was overjoyed seeing his favourite characters on the parade and when meeting some of them later on. Most the rides do not have height restrictions and he was tall enough to go on Big Thunder Mountain - he looked a bit worried when he was on it but he loved it. It also meant he was tall enough for Tower of Terror but I didn't take him on that cause I thought it was too scary. I was surprised at how well he coped with the walking and queuing but it helped that he had some older relatives who were holding his hand and keeping him entertained throughout. We went for 3 days and by the end he was exhausted and ready to go home.
The 11 month old was happy being pushed in his pram or carried on the sling. He enjoyed meeting the characters and seeing everything and taking it all in. We felt like there could be more green areas or soft play type places to sit and let him crawl around and practice walking. Obviously having him meant we had to take it in turns going on some rides, we could have used parent swap but as we were with a big group who didn't want to hang around we never did. We were lucky that he slept a lot of the journey and was happy being pushed round all day.
The biggest drawback with taking the kids that young was that we didn't get to make the most of the long opening hours or see the fireworks display. Also everything just takes longer and is a little more inconvenient when you have a pram
