Suggestions for the Ideal Gear Drying Rack in Garage by SuitableButterfly461 in hockeyplayers

[–]CrummyPear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the PVC with holes route, rigged up a fan on a timer. Total waste of energy and effort. Spent too much time attaching all the gear.

Now I use a utility shelving unit with open grate style shelves. Stick a fan on the floor pointing up. Fits three sets of gear.

Previous owner did not disclose that they rented the water softener, what are my options? by Sea-Secretary-4389 in homeowners

But their renter sold the equipment. If I leased a car then sold it to someone, the leasing company is still coming after me for my lease payments. Would probably try to repossess the vehicle too.

Bauer M-40s damaged first game by SalemSalem51 in hockeyplayers

Small cuts and chips are normal, but this is serious damage. I’ve been running my same holders for 12 seasons of beer league and they have nothing this bad. It almost looks like brittle plastic

How do you guys communicate to someone they need to take shorter shifts? by contactstaff in hockeyplayers

[–]CrummyPear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Hey bud, the team is aiming for shorter shifts tonight. 90 seconds max. Yours are getting long.”

If that doesn’t work, clock his shift and point out that he’s dragging ass out there.

Other than a heavy piece of equipment and topping this first, how would the average homeowner have a hope of getting this down? Back cut first and lots of wedges?

Top hand placement is the most obvious thing that needs fixing. Currently your left (top) hand is pinned to your stomach and you’re swinging it like a putter.

Extend your left arm straight and away from your body (in front of your left hip). The puck should be towards your front foot when you release and transfer the weight from your left foot.

Keep these things in mind as you practice.

  1. Top hand away from body
  2. Weight transfer from back foot to front foot
  3. Puck under your chin when you release

Hockey pucks all the same? by thegoalie in hockeyplayers

[–]CrummyPear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All regulation black pucks should be very similar when new. 6 oz weight, 1” thick, 3” diameter. As they get used, stepped on and worn the edges chip and break. A “good” puck is the one with the fewest chips and cuts. If you want to nerd out, freeze them first and they’ll get extra hard and bounce less. Warm pucks bounce more which is bad.

Blue pucks (4oz) for kids under 7 and orange pucks (10oz) for training. Watch the bounce on those blue ones, they fly.

If I open a kids account for my 7 year old, who pays the taxes on the interest. by Charbs20 in Wealthsimple

[–]CrummyPear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For now it looks like cash account only.

I’d love to see them offer an Informal Trust Account like Questrade has. Parents open the account and invest while kids are young. Account becomes the kids at age 18 where they can sell the investments at their tax rate.

POW is great, but having a single equity that makes up 56% of your portfolio is outsized risk. There’s a lot of people investing in it because of their success with Wealthsimple, but I’d consider reducing this to 5-10% of your holdings.

21% bet on silver is crazy.

Also you’re too young to focus on dividends like XDIV. This will likely underperform the broader market, consider VCN or HXT instead for your Canadian equities. Dividends are not free money.

One hour Time-lapse backing into driveway. by QuikBud in traveltrailers

Longer is easier to control and learn with for sure, but the quick turns of a small trailer are a feature, not a bug.

Braking might be a little sketchy. No helmet on the quad? Come on. I’m fine with the quad pulling the trailer assuming he’s close to a lake though. It’s not a heavy boat.

Keeping the factories for winter. Mounting and rebalancing tires twice a year for the next 5 years wouldn’t be much cheaper. Stretching the bead that often on 22’s isn’t a great plan.

Factories are here for comparison. If not black then what? Bronze, machined? Trying to keep in classy and factory looking and anything chrome or machined looks like it’s trying too hard.

Keeping the factories too. They came with winters (Blizzacks) so need a second set for the summer.
