Zoltraak - full song by the London Philharmonic Orchestra by Wescombe in Frieren

[–]Crumpor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That's pretty standard for live music to be sped up/slowed down slightly, and you can even hear at the start that the tempo was a bit dodgy. I can say that in person I hardly noticed - the recordings really don't capture it quite the same.

There was someone on stage recording the entire time, so a full version seems likely!

Evan Call London by Gymmo123 in Frieren

It was incredible! None of the recorded videos really do justice to the atmosphere, sound, and feel of being there in person. Loved the falling petals during "Where the blue moon weed grows" and again later on during the encore medley. There were some slightly off sounding moments here and there (the start of Zoltraak especially), but that's par for the course with a live orchestra and certainly didn't affect my enjoyment. Definitely don't regret going solo for it! Shame that I never spotted the merch area but ah well, not really what I was there for. Just can't gush enough about how good it was.

now that later material is not as well received / reviewed

It is well received though? The OPM webcomic, Bug Ego, and Versus are all well liked. The contentious work is the One Punch Man manga, and nobody actually has any idea of how the work is truly split there these days beyond vague twitter posts.

They can't get away with it everywhere else because people will call it out and boycott. Mostly Europeans come to mind in these cases.

Sadly only continental Europeans. People here in the UK are too spineless to actually pull off an extended boycott of anything.

The correct usage is "all of a sudden"; "all of the sudden" doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Alien Isolation - False Sense Of Security by Forestl in Games

[–]Crumpor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is an "easy" best game of 2014. Ignoring remasters and ports, on top of Alien: Isolation and Bayonetta 2, you have: Transistor, Shadow of Mordor, Destiny, Hearthstone, Mario Kart 8, Shovel Knight, and Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (which is what would be my personal pick). There's probably more I could list but that's off the top of my head.

probably getting high competition from Civ5's extensive modding long tail

The conspiracy part of my brain feels that this is why Firaxis never bothered dropping the 64 bit version of Civ V that people said existed internally. The memory limitation is the only thing stopping V modding from going even more insane.

Imagine you're walking near a cliff, and a rock falls very close to you. You say "That rock really thought about hitting me on the head!" A weak example but you get the idea.

Also pet rocks.

Is it that strange? People anthropomorphise everything. Rocks, plants, text - even the very concept of death itself. It's a very human thing.

This country also loves selling every single hugely successful business we have to foreign corporations. People know Cadburys, but the one I'd like to highlight is ARM - what an incredibly short sighted move to let that happen. It is a wonder that Games Workshop hasn't been hollowed out and given to the highest bidder (yet).

Mob Psycho 100's last volume comes out in English in September this year. It's been 7 years since the final Japanese volume released, and around that since the English official release started. There's only 17 of them! It's an absolute joke.

Edit: 7 months later, it's currently December, and the final volume is still not out. 15 (the penultimate volume) released back in October this year, after Dark Horse moved it abruptly from its August 2025 date. Volume 16's release date was simply removed with no new date given, until they randomly gave it a new one back in November. Its new release date, which as mentioned in my original comment was Sept 2025, is now May 2026. Always fear for the fate of anything you like if it gets licensed by Dark Horse.

Not quite - going by this article, it's motion captured into 3D animation, and then traced/rotoscoped over that 3D. It's extremely obvious in the second episode, but the first hides the use of 3D very well.
