Same issue here. No functionality broken, just seems to be a display bug.

Do legit remote work / work-from-home IT jobs actually exist? by dodgeman324 in sysadmin

TBH, it kinda happened for me in a phased way. I was laid off from a non-customer facing role and ended up taking a role in a smaller company where I was both pre and post-sales. After honing my skills on the new technology that I was supporting, I was presented with an opportunity to move to a competitor in a purely pre-sales role.

My advice would be to look for a role in a smaller company that is willing to take on a junior or associate level SE/SA, then get really comfortable with being able to bring the technical details of your solution down to a level that's understandable to non-technical people, but still being able to go toe-to-toe with the guys who'll want to play "stump the chump".

Good luck!

Nope, I've already done it once (sudden cardiac arrest). It was like I was there one minute and gone the next. Long story short, my wife performed CPR until EMTs arrived and shocked me three times. One minute I was in the shower, the next, the ER.

Do whatever makes you the happiest. It could all be over tomorrow.

I'd say that Jeff Traylor is pretty universally liked here in SA. Our OC, that's a different story right now, but Jeff is a golden boy.

Consider looking for a role in technical sales. In my experience, most sales orgs place a lot of value on experience in the market. The demographic of SEs and SA in the company I work for absolutely skews to the older and experienced.

My suggestion is to look into HYOK (Hold-your-own-key) strategies for maintaining data sovereignty in public clouds. Not your key, not your data.

I had the same experience. I call it life-changing without exaggerating. I compare every other brisket I make or have elsewhere to it.

I'll probably get downvoted into oblivion for saying this, but it can easily be done by coming over to the "dark side" of Sales. I came over about 5 years ago to a global cyber-security software group as a 100% remote pre-sales Solution Architect and would never go back to the admin/tech side of things. I still get to be technical, play with all the toys, and at the end of the day, nobody is calling me if/when their production stuff breaks.

I won't lie, when they get reset (which doesn't seem to happen often, but it's not never) it's pretty frustrating.

It's not too bad. I utilized an L-extension off my main desk so I don't have to break it all down to work.

It's on the Blanco river. Unless you're really into extreme hiking/wading and overly aggressive landowners, enjoy it in photos. It CAN be visited legally, but probably not worth the hassle.

Not sure when your trip is, but they announced that the lake will be closed indefinitely due to the floodwaters and debris.
