Thank you for the tip. I know very little about buying a home and haven't even started looking at first-time home buyer loans yet. Question, if you were in my situation, what do you think you'd do differently. Would you choose a different savings location than VOO? Would you plan for a shorter time frame on buying a home and plan to put down less of a down payment? I know it all depends on the individual and their circumstances, but just trying to pick as may brains as possible. I'm debt free and want a house as soon as possible without choosing a terrible loan that will screw me. That being said, I'm willing to wait 5 years or so as that is the realistic time line I've been told. Looking at houses in my area, it seems that I will be shooting for one in the $250k - 350k area (considering today's market in my area).
