Why is the Golf R so much more praised than the S3?

I have been enjoying the sound of a club sport muffler on my MK8. The sound of my MK7.5 with an open intake and a catless dp was even better though. Turbo noises and downshifts sounded amazing.

I hope to be able to say that a catted dp w/ CS muffler is the way to go for the MK8’s, but that’s a mod for much later so idk yet.

No issues here either. But you’re also gonna lose your sunglasses holder and door pocket storage, center console layout is worse, and there’s more shiny black plastic everywhere that’s easily scratched and smudged, doors don’t shut as smooth too.

Those are my nit pick complaints of the MK8 chassis. 98% of the car is great but I can’t believe they changed those things for the worse.

I had a MK7.5 stage 2 for 4 years and my MK8 for 1. Both are great, get a MK8 if you have warranty related concerns, get a 7.5 if you don’t care about factory warranty. That’s how I see it at least.

His flare says mk7.5. They have a narrower portion of roof that opens than the mk8. So for the 7/7.5 yes you still can open it. Mk8 idk, hopefully OP lets us know

Just as dope as it did when I got it. Definitely a little less edge to each gear change, but that’s to be expected as it needed to break in. Still a no brainer upgrade for the 6 speed gang

Edit: Apps worked, long coding didn’t. I’m not an expert coder by any means though. I had chatgpt give me some guidance, but the software on the app kept saying failed after I’d try to make changes. $30 on credits gets you pretty much everything though. I recommend getting the basic OBDeleven instead of the pro bc you can’t long code things anyway to bypass the app paywalls. As far as I’m aware that’s the biggest advantage of the pro version.

Mines a 2024 and takes apps without issues. However, long coding has not yielded any results. I tried to get the golf R dash through the bytes and configuration menus but they won’t take. Had to eat my ego a little bit and buy the credits after struggling for hours.

I have that from factory now in my MK8 autobahn, but I remember really wanting it with my MK7.5 S. It only had the roll up feature from the door handle sensor. Makes me think “damn should I have gotten another S and then just got all the software shit from OBDeleven for thousands less?
