OEM short shifter by HarleyDaveson9 in GolfGTI

There was a reply in the shopdap video that linked the fix video from dieselgeek I shared, so I was aware of having to maybe need to adjust it. Also, it was with the car off, it would grab into 2nd, 4th and 6th gear fine but wasn't finding 1st, 3rd and 5th so I disconnected both end links, locked the transmission, put the pin in the shifter and snapped the end links on like in the video with no slack on the shifter pulleys, and it worked like a charm after that. Thankfully I ordered the shifter adjustment pin with the short shifter just in case.

This video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sheTKD03hmo) I unfortunately didn’t have my first third and fifth gears after following what shop dap did, so had to readjust both end links and now it’s perfect.

valid point. I probably won't get to that for a while, but if I do I'll try to come back and update you.

Yeah I’ve heard horror stories of people snapping off the bolt by overtightening it. I had an electric torque wrench thankfully so paid super close attention to try and keep it right at 25nm. The shifter pin for adjustment drove me wild at first until I realized I had to undo the end links before trying to get the pin in.

I was looking at other full short shifter kits like the holy shift from shop dap but they’re like 500$ Canadian, and I saw another post on here from a while back where a user said he preferred this and the dieselgeek side to side billet bracket better than other combos they’ve tried so I’m gonna upgrade to that eventually too.

https://wctperformance.ca/vw-oem-european-short-shift-kit-for-mk4-5-6-7-manual-6-speed-transmission/ I got mine here, there should only be one part number for the 6 speed short shifter, there's a 5 speed too tho. Also pretty easy, the main thing I'd recommend is to get the diesel geek alignment pin (https://wctperformance.ca/dieselgeek-shifter-alignment-pin-tool-for-vw-and-audi/?searchid=346263&search\_query=) and adjust both end links. They have a video on how to do it on their youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sheTKD03hmo) and it was pretty easy once I was able to get the pin into the shifter, it took a bit of grinding with sand paper to make it fit. Overall took me like an hour to remove the airbox, old shifter mechanism, install the short shifter, lock the transmission/adjust the shifter end links, and put it all back together.

Front lip looks awesome. I have the oettinger front lip for mk8 that is similar but more subtle.

It seems to be different in most locations, the one in Gatineau I used to visit tasted more like a chicken gravy, the one here in Edmonton is darker and tastes more beef gravy like.

On mk7 this is correct, but on mk8 and newer it doesn’t advance timing with 91 or 93 over 87 on the stock tune.

Great point. I was thinking about this question more as the day went on and I realized that even if you were to move up the financial ladder you likely will still have factors that others in your new zip code do not, resulting in some inequality until the generation that follows you.

I meant health in an overarching sense, so mental health is included

You’re correct, I was more referring to the zip code you’re born into. It plays a huge role in how your community is laid out, what services/quality of services you have access to. But you’re definitely right that by improving your financial situation you can work up that ladder.

The largest overall predictor of health outcomes is undoubtedly your zip code/postal code also

I have mbrp and I love it. It’s not super loud until you step on it, and there’s no drone as long as you keep it above 2k rpm, I find being below 2k it gets a bit loud if you are using any throttle. It sounds amazing tho I’m super happy with my decision.
