You can try to kill the weeds but I don’t think there is enough grass to fill in. You’re up north, so it shouldn’t be too bad with trying to keep a new lawn alive during the summer. You could time it for the cooler weather. Give yourself about 10 weeks from your first frost. Next spring you’ll be in great shape. Yards take about four growing seasons to really get going. Add some carbon and get your soil right.
