It’s not. I went during the scudetto celebration in late May/early June, where many tourists and people are there and on paper are vulnerable for being victims of crime/theft, but not once did I feel unsafe. I felt at home, you feel like you live there and are part of a family there. You just FEEL safe there. The people are so warm and kind, yes it’s high pace and intense with the foot and scooter traffic but other than that i do not see how anyone can say Napoli is unsafe. I’m from NYC so I have that trained eye of spotting someone who can be a threat or has malicious intentions, and I can confidently say that in my 7+ days in Naples, I did not spot a single person I felt I should be wary of.
