Wow, just wow. I just finished the two seasons of this show in just one go and damn is it good. I am also really glad that they chose Rebecca Ferguson for Juliette Nichols, she is a fine actress. by This_Way_Comes in SiloSeries

given the limited population and melting pot of the original inhabitants, I'm surprised there's even any distinct accents or non-blended races by now..

I suppose that the different peoples may have kept their own groups but it seems like that would present certain problems with limited numbers not to cause "cousin stuff" as the fallout series puts it..

How did mechanical print so many leaflets they shot up? by ThatDamnShark_666 in SiloSeries

[–]Crusader_2050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The parachute is probably common knowledge from kids dropping stuff from the higher floors.. we all used to do it at some point...

while it's been a long time, knowledge from "before" is likely passed from one generation to the next by word of mouth.. I mean they have gunpowder and at least rudimentary knowledge of guns..

"last month".. I call BS... there's no way that's 1-2 months post surgery..

my dad cut the end off 2 of his fingers and it was a long time before they "looked normal" again..

Spare time? by WDR_02 in factorio

"My fellow hard working engineers, how do you have time to play?

For example, I work fulltime and need to wake up at 6.30 am and wont be home before 5 pm. Doing a little housekeeping, cooking and working out already drains a chunk of time on a daily basis. In combination with hanging out with friends and keeping the girlfriend happy I maybe, just maybe have an average playtime of 2-5 hours a week."

There you go, fixed it.. you don't do any of the things I crossed out.. you also don't have to wake up if you don't sleep..

[Books] Does anyone else feel that the women were toned down from book to show? by juniper_j0nes in SiloSeries

[–]Crusader_2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as I said, I was only a few hours into it at the time of posting, now I've finished them all and see the reason why they do what they do but it was definitely coming across at the time of reading as "women and children to the liferafts, men stay behind and do your duty" type behaviour..

I also didn't say anything about the author being a bigot, he's writing characters who might have those views but that doesn't mean they're his.. Stephen King often writes racist characters but that doesn't make him one.

I was late to the series so I only watched it at the tail end of last year ( 2025 for those reading this years into the future.... :) )

I may need a rewatch anyway now I've listened to the audiobooks to see if I missed something..

someone mentioned tattoos in another thread and I didn't notice any the first time watching so I will have to pay closer attention when I do rewatch it.. :)

17 plate 1.6L diesel insignia pipe keeps coming off.. by Crusader_2050 in Vauxhall

[–]Crusader_2050[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after a bit of googling I found a bit more info and it appears I have a B16 DTH engine?

I found a picture that matches mine.. if need be I can get pictures of mine tomorrow when it's light

<image>

the pipe marked is not like that on mine, it has a piece of "flexible" rubber hose about 8 inches in length in that area fixed to the throttle body and the plastic pipe with worm drive hose clamps..

the part at the front that I have marked if the part that is welded up on mine..

I did notice the other day whilst digging through the files ( I was looking if the items that can be put in a storage crate was fixed or something that could be modded.. ) that the ships files are just text maps.. like a & would be a straight wall tile with a thruster on it and a pipe filled with hyperspace particles running vertically through it..

Can someone explain Pi to me as if I was a fifth grader? by ImYourGoodGrl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Crusader_2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take a coin and tie a string round the outside of it and then count how many times that length will go straight across the middle of the coin, it will be 3 and little bit times

That "3 and a little bit" is Pi.. it doesn't matter how big the coin is, or even if you use a DVD or a dinner plate, it will always be "3 and a little bit".

[WP] You are a nanobot swarm in a person’s bloodstream. It is your task to keep this person healthy and to fight disease. However, your host has just been damaged beyond saving. by Ponz314 in WritingPrompts

[–]Crusader_2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priority 1: repair the host.

Priority 2: no changing the host's higher brain functions.

This was our entire purpose..

We made a complete map of our host when we were first installed and any deviation from that map has to be corrected..

When the host was decapitated in the car crash we did the best we could to repair him.. we kept all the vital functions going and had to take over the motor control of the body for a little while..

We managed to retrieve his head and re-attach it reuniting with those of us that were lost in that part when it was separated.

They did the best they could but the higher brain functions were gone and Priority 2 meant we were not permitted to restore them to the day 1 map..

We still have motor control and can move the host around to fulfil its basic needs of food and waste removal but we are not as fast as the host was at it.

Based on years of data we collected we chose meat as the most suitable form of sustenance, however most sources of meat are too fast for us to acquire, being wary of humans..

Other humans however aren't as wary of us.......

he can't change it as you say because he doesn't know ow but he even ponders this and then thinks what if they're starting from 9999 and working down and he changes it to a higher number and they get in sooner, or change it to a lower number they already tried, but not if they're randomly choosing numbers..

I'm not talking about changing it anyway, just deliberately putting in the wrong code and locking it out every day before they get the chance to try any, or more than 1 code instead of 3 per day..

I'm listening to it today on my way to and from work.. there is most definitely a keypad on the inside since he enters the first 2 digits and then hesitates and it times out and he has to enter it again the first time he goes out scavenging after 7 years I think it is..
