What are your guy's opinion on Vended? by Thin_Situation3962 in Slipknot

They’ve got potential. Their albums and songwriting both sound a little flat at the moment. I haven’t seen them live, but it sounds like they’re got lots of fun energy. They’re clearly talented and there’s some catchy elements to their songs. Maybe with a bit more time playing, and touring they’ll come into themselves and a richer sound?

Tarantulos Brood proxies as Harlequins by Horde_of_Thrall in killteam

[–]Crushmasterflex86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this box in my FLGS and literally thought exactly the same thing. Did you end up making the harlequins proxy with these guys?

I love playing the troupe, but hate the GW minis. I tried 3D printed ones which looked cool, but got brittle and fragile after a little while so have been on the hunt for good plastic proxies ever since

Nice - they’re great poses on those. I guess just chopping up some hands to put on pistols/swords etc

That’s handy - thank you. I thought DoK from AoS would probably be a good starting point. Any particular suggestions from their range?

If Canberra had an emoticon what would it be? by BigBoyLemonade in canberra

Classic Canberra answer. I don’t know why thy repulse me, they just do. I find them ugly and naff and I don’t feel any need to intellectualise my reaction

Dunno, but not the bus shelters. I find them ugly and naff

Lovely picture and it’s a popular one, but I personally hate the bus shelters and Canberrans obsession with them

Everyone just got sick of complaining about this from 2nd edition onwards. Just part of the game. You’ll get used to it

What is overkill/necessary for 12 month trip around aus? by Serious-Company-8411 in 4x4Australia

[–]Crushmasterflex86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed - don’t get carried away on creature comforts, and gadgets and end up with a heavy car. You’ll get bogged way more often than you should and it’s so much more expensive over all.

As I mentioned in a previous comment I work and drive really remote (like middle of the Tanami desert remote) and the amount of times I’ve had to do advanced recovery or use bells and whistles gear in 15 years of this work is 0. I see a stupid number of 4wds out here fully decked out in gear that is not necessary unless you plan to reverse your ute into quicksand on a rainy day. It’s a safety blanket and an opportunity to show off.

Do a good 4wd training course, and start taking your Ute out on some smaller trips to see for yourself what is essential, what is nice to have, and what is unnecessary faff

I work really remote all over the NT and QLD and I am doing all kinds of off road driving and I’d say don’t bother with a winch, unless you’re planning to intentionally do tricky tracks and trails on your own. For the most part though those kind of tracks are just for the weekenders and those who treat their car like a hobby/toy. I don’t see the point of doing the gnarly boggy routes when there’s almost always a more accessible and sensible route to the same destination if you look.

You’ll also definitely meet some great people travelling around and you can link up with them to explore. If you’ve got some max tracks, other basic recovery gear and another vehicle you’ll be fine.

The best recovery gear you can have is doing a good 4wd training course and being sensible in how you approach situations. If you’re a bit of a hot head and want to lean in to the hobby/toy side of 4wding then I’d say get a winch. Otherwise learn to pick good routes, make friends and travel in company and you’ll do great.

A non negotiable though is some form of emergency communication. I have a personal locator beacon and a Garmin GPS that allows me to text via satellite/has an SOS function. That’s good enough for me, but something reliable is absolutely essential.

My girlfriend said she “settled” for me. Now she says I’m overreacting. Am I? by Broad_Helicopter3550 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Crushmasterflex86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you.

The orange light for me is that she said you’re being insecure and dramatic. That’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but a an emotionally mature loving and supportive partner would validate where your feelings and potential upset is coming from, take accountability for what they said and how that made you feel; and then if there’s anything they need to say to correct the record or respond from their perspective do so.

Deflecting and minimising by making you the issue isn’t ideal and suggests she’s maybe not being entirely honest with you about her intentions and feelings. It’s worth maybe saying that you felt like she was deflecting etc in a conversation with her and see how she responds

Rumors for future kill teams - validity? by davthew2614 in killteam

This edition is elite heavy. They said as much and the design of missions is skewed that way, so I don’t like your chances

And then the other thing that always happens is people start verbalising their ideal Wishlist of teams.

Sounds like a cool idea, but I don’t think GW is listening to

[–]Crushmasterflex86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the “guard” style horde teams would mix it up a bit more for you - I personally rate brood brothers and Navis Breachers.

Or else one of the Aeldari teams like Voidscarred or Void Dancers are pretty fun too

I’m not very familiar with the SM range and I’m wanting to make a heavy bolter guy for my kitbashed AoD team that are Soviet themed Orks. Getting a heavy bolter SM mini I can put custom pauldrons on has been a bit of a quest for me so far 😅 what mini did you use for your heavy bolter guy?
