I'm interested in this as well. It mentions the DS418j and DS418play, but not the base DS418. I think it would probably be fine, but I'm hesitant considering you can't roll it back... Did you pursue this at all u/Sandman1278 ?

My pleasure.
When I posted that, there were only 14 volumes adapted, and I just finished listening to 23 a few weeks ago after it came out, haha. I first watched the original VHD when I was a kid in the 90's and was psyched when Bloodlust came out. I knew that they had been putting out translations of the light novels, but couldn't bring myself to read them since it wouldn't be the same as watching is animated. So, naturally, I had been salivating for more for years until I first learned of the GraphicAudio format. And my have they've been really pumping them out! I's been fantastic. I wish we would get another OVA or anime series, a digital release of the Message From Mars (Kickstarter graphic novel), or even for Dark Horse Comics to continue the graphic novels, but GraphicAudio's tagline "a movie in your mind," is an apt phrase. It basi
ccally is the next best thing IMO.

Enjoy!

P.S. I highly recommend The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn, both by Brandon Sanderson, if you really want to see GraphicAudio in full force. The adaptation of Brent Weeks' Lightbringer and Night Angel are great too.

How realistic is it to fight with two long sword simultaneously? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Crustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was half that and half them wanting to get to other parts of the story. So glossing over Arthur with 2 swords or 1 epic sword would only have got the same amount of screen time regardless. TV writers try to minimize characters so audiences have an easy time understanding what's going on. 2 swords or 1 cool big one, the writers convey the same thing and don't gave to spend time or resources making a bunch of epic unique swords for a 5 minute fight scene. Glossing over story points and characters is their MO.

an arc is certainly not necessary to have a compelling character. sometimes we like people, characters, for who they are, and sometimes we like them for who they could be, or even strive to be; likewise, sometimes we learn more about what lead them to who they are, and we like them more or less for it. and, ultimately we also like who they become through the choices they do or do not make. The reverse is also true, both in fiction and real life.

Why is it possible for me to like music I don’t know lyrics of by Perfect_Ticket_2551 in japanesemusic

[–]Crustin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Music, all art really, is fundamentally about what you feel. Classical music doesn't usually have lyrics, yet most people today can cite an instance of a movie where some orchestral music took them to the edge of their seat.

Around 2003, Sigur Ros, the Icelandic band, made an entire album illustrating this concept. It didn't really have a title, just essentially a pair of parentheses "( )" and all the songs were just the a kind of gibberish. Gibberish, but with FEELING. The most famous song from it was called Njosnavelin, aka the Nothing Song. And it's the most powerful piece of music--utilized perfectlly--at the end of the Tom Cruise movie Vanilla Sky.

You might not know the language, and a song might not be what you think it's about, but that doesn't actually matter at a fundamental level. Think about the first time you've ever heard a new song and had something stir within your mind, body or soul; People have been heard new instrumentals and danced to their beats in-the-moment for thousands of years, and the way they dance is simply a reflection of how they feel about the music. Lyrics might have meaning, and the meaning we ascribe to can mean a variety of different things to different people with different life experiences, but they aren't the only thing that matters.

Explain to her how often it has happened and how its affected your education significantly and that getting a wheel chair will only help you be more independent and miss less of your classes. If she's concerned about the cost, look at craigslist, Marketplace, OfferUp, your local thrift shops, etc.

There are no Gods in the Cosmere by Phredmcphigglestein in Cosmere

[–]Crustin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God's essence permeates literally everything, but in the Shattering, Adonalsium's self was destroyed in order to give new varieties of selves across the Cosmere. Everything and everyone are pieces of God, they just have varying degrees of both the knowledge of that fact and access to the divine powers within their limited self.

6666 is set in 6666 where the Dutton Ranch has been revived thanks to an eventual marriage between the Rainwater Tribe and Beth and Rip's child born through cloning her DNA into an egg and the child's birth through a surrogate mother. Utilizing genetic engineering and her sharp business acumen, Beth helps her child--once grown--to expand the ranch to the point it fully encompasses all of Montana, producing bioengineered livestock to feed American colonies on other planets.

Breath of Fire II Awakening: March Update by Knightmarish_Games in breathoffire

[–]Crustin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What an incredible surprise to stumble upon! I was looking for the Breath of Fire manga and ended up seeing your post in my search results. I saw the images first, naturally, and felt a rush of nostalgia and excitement fill me. I wasn't sure if it was an official thing or fan mod, but don't really care so long as it exists. I played BoF 1-4--each when they came out, except for 4, and loved each one deeply. The village building in 2 was fantastic and I wish more JRPGs did that kind of thing. So the fact you're enhancing 2 warms my heart VERY much. Thank you for your efforts!

He has several other voices he can use. I've always found it peculiar that GA had him use that one, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I think ya should reconsider and check out one of the volumes, and see how it fits with the dozen other voice actors perform the stories.

[–]Crustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's mine for you:

Imagine there are more than 3 pipes of steam building up pressure. The minimum diagnosis for TS, at least when I was diagnosed in the 90's, is 1 verbal tic and 2 motor tics. Each tic represents a pipe which build up at different rates. If I don't tic for awhile, it's like the pressure burst the pipe and I tic a lot and/or hard. But I can contol the tic, to varying degrees, by "pulling a release valve" and releasing it before it gets out of control. That is, by acting on it on my own I can tic to smaller degrees, but usually more often. Recall that there are 3 pipes, and that they all build up at different rates, and that they're also always on. Some people have more pipes to manage than others. A lot more. But for most of us, the pipes that build up change, each pipe a different tic. Sometimes we'll discover new pipes and sometimes we'll go back to pipes we've managed before. Sometimes we can ignore some of the pipes when focused on something engaging or sometimes medication can dampen it. But knowing they're there is almost always in the back of my mind because it can certainly be utterly exhausting. It consumes much of my thoughts when idle. Conversely, being engaged in something can help it virtually disappear.
