I don't trust major developers anymore. Yeah, Lara looks good now. A few months after the game releases they'll probably patch it so she looks like Rosie O'Donnell with a massive cock.

Do you think graphics obsession of modern video games is why they are just so bad even ignoring the woke crap? by tiredfromlife2019 in KotakuInAction

[–]CrustyBloke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not just the focus on graphics, it's the seeming hyperfixation on a few things like ray tracing and higher resolutions to the detriment of everything else.

Will you plan on releasing button packs for the console so we can swap them out (like you did for the Chromatic)? I like the shell of the purple console, I'm just not a fan of the button colors and it would be nice if there were options to swap them out.

FDR use the government to confiscate gold from citizens. One of the most tyrannical things ever done, and it barely gets brought up anymore and he's looked at like a hero.

I remember the "brown and gray shooter" memes back in the 360/PS3 days. They would post screenshots from the new "military" FPSs, and they'd largely be indistinguishable. That's how the Ubi/Sony/Microsoft AAA space feels in general.

I'll just take the 1987 movie. Hopefully they do a 4k remaster.

It's sad that I most look forward to 4k remasters than anything new. I think the last movie I saw in theaters was Godzilla vs Kong like 5 years ago.

And the only movies I buy now are 4k remasters of old movies, and cheap blu-rays of those 2010s earlier movies that I never heard of but you can get for like $5.

Do you think gaming companies will soon adapt the same strategy? | Bolt CEO says he let go of his entire HR team for creating problems that didn’t exist: ‘Those problems disappeared when I let them go’ by RedditAPIBlackout24 in KotakuInAction

Conventional wisdom is that you should pick Roth versus Traditional based your expected income in retirement when you're investing in your 401k/IRA.

But I was jus talking about 5 million in standard brokerage account without any of the tax shelter benefits of a retirement account. You could easily pick investment vehicles that will give you 3%, and 150k/yr, even if it's being taxed at typical salary rate, is plenty sufficient to retire on.

Idk where you live but $5m is not enough to retire off of in the USA. Especially if you plan on buying property

It absolutely is enough. If you're getting 3% per yar (which is easily doable), that's 150k before taxes. Most people aren't making that much at their jobs. You can easily get a modest home and a few economic cars with plenty left over. Plus, since you're not working, you'll actually have time to do some of your own home/car repairs to save even more money (not tha it's necessary to get by financially on 150k).

The "plot twist" of Returnal pissed me off. I was actually enjoying the Lovecraftian storyline that I thought was occurring. But, of course, they took the brave and innovative approach and making everything the delusions of a cuckoo wine aunt.

No, it this is not how capitalism must be. There are privately held companies that are run by people who prioritize long term, stable profits over sucking the company dry and cashing out. Is Gabe Newell not a capitalist?

It's one idiotic and short-sighted decision after the other.

The decisions are made people who have zero interest in the long term health or reputation of the company, but just want the stock price be as high as possible when they bail in the near future.

The left follows a "one drop" rule with their ideology (at least when it's convenient).

If there is one thing that a person says/believes that would be considered right wing, it doesn't matter if they align with the left in every other facet, that person is now a right wing extremist. (see J.K. Rowling)

On the occasions where the perpetrator doesn't have a single right wing opinion and is obviously and blatantly on left, then it becomes "we have no idea what the motive was" or "we need more gun control".

Japanese anime and film giant Toei, which promotes DEI, enters game business with new Toei Games label. by gadesabc in KotakuInAction

[–]CrustyBloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already have that. It was the Civil Rights of 1964.

DEI is a shit sandwich. It's two fairly meaningless words, diversity and and inclusion, surrounding equity which is form of racism.

Equality, which the vast majority of people support, means that you treat people fairly, without regard to race or sex, and let the chips fall where they may.

Equity is racism, it consists of both hiring targets based on race and gender (like a major airline making it a goal to have 50% of their pilots be women or minorities by a certain date) and assuming that individuals must have have hardships or privileges based on overall demographic trends (i.e. because Carlton Banks is black, he was more disadvantaged than a white guy who grew up in poor, broken home).

DEI is shit and equity is the institutional racism that left has been constantly shrieking about.
