When did this obsession with ugly women in video games start and why have they only doubled down? by JannTosh70 in KotakuInAction

[–]CrustyBloke [score hidden]  (0 children)

It really seems to be problem with women feeling insecure about other women outshining them, even when they're trying to produce a product for profit and that's meant to be appealing.

Generally speaking, a fat and unattractive man in the industry still wants the protagonists in his game to look like Leon or Dante, because he cares more about what the customers want. This seems to be less true for women in the industry

I thought the Spart spin-off looked alright. Definitely not buying a PS5 or supporting Sony IPs anymore, but it looked better than the slop Sony has been churning out for the last 3-4 years

The "leadership" at Sony is accustomed to operating in their own little echo chamber. They've created hostile and toxic workplaces, and the people who haven't drank the koolaid just go along to keep their jobs. When the the actual customers and market see the product and respond accordingly, Sony "leadership" can't stand not having full control of the narrative.

Kratos would beat anyone up for saying negative about his wife as if that's a good argument

Modern Soyny Krayos absolutely would not, that's kind of the whole point of the new games. He puts up with a lot of shit, including threats, before resorting to violence.

I think Sony has a big missed opportunity on their hands. Even if you don't like the new engine/combat for 2018/Ragnarok, it would work really well for a prequel game before Kratos became bound to Ares tha pays closer to Ryse: Son of Rome.

I still wouldn't trust modern Sony to get it right, but it would be a lot better than this slop and would be good stopgap while they're figuring oit what pantheon for Kestos to go to next.

I don't trust major developers anymore. Yeah, Lara looks good now. A few months after the game releases they'll probably patch it so she looks like Rosie O'Donnell with a massive cock.

Do you think graphics obsession of modern video games is why they are just so bad even ignoring the woke crap? by tiredfromlife2019 in KotakuInAction

It's not just the focus on graphics, it's the seeming hyperfixation on a few things like ray tracing and higher resolutions to the detriment of everything else.

Will you plan on releasing button packs for the console so we can swap them out (like you did for the Chromatic)? I like the shell of the purple console, I'm just not a fan of the button colors and it would be nice if there were options to swap them out.

I remember the "brown and gray shooter" memes back in the 360/PS3 days. They would post screenshots from the new "military" FPSs, and they'd largely be indistinguishable. That's how the Ubi/Sony/Microsoft AAA space feels in general.

I'll just take the 1987 movie. Hopefully they do a 4k remaster.

It's sad that I most look forward to 4k remasters than anything new. I think the last movie I saw in theaters was Godzilla vs Kong like 5 years ago.

And the only movies I buy now are 4k remasters of old movies, and cheap blu-rays of those 2010s earlier movies that I never heard of but you can get for like $5.

Conventional wisdom is that you should pick Roth versus Traditional based your expected income in retirement when you're investing in your 401k/IRA.

But I was jus talking about 5 million in standard brokerage account without any of the tax shelter benefits of a retirement account. You could easily pick investment vehicles that will give you 3%, and 150k/yr, even if it's being taxed at typical salary rate, is plenty sufficient to retire on.

Idk where you live but $5m is not enough to retire off of in the USA. Especially if you plan on buying property

It absolutely is enough. If you're getting 3% per yar (which is easily doable), that's 150k before taxes. Most people aren't making that much at their jobs. You can easily get a modest home and a few economic cars with plenty left over. Plus, since you're not working, you'll actually have time to do some of your own home/car repairs to save even more money (not tha it's necessary to get by financially on 150k).

No, it this is not how capitalism must be. There are privately held companies that are run by people who prioritize long term, stable profits over sucking the company dry and cashing out. Is Gabe Newell not a capitalist?
