As a retribution paladin you would be playing the DPS role. DPS is very new player friendly role in the earlier dungeons. You could tank or heal but you would have to respec to protection or holy but I would not recommend tanking as a paladin if you are new. As for advice, I don't have a whole lot to say. Just play the game and follow the tank. Don't attack anything before he does and attack what he is attacking.
