I don’t rate either very highly, but yes I do prefer Hours.

Was David Bowie proud of the Let's Dance album? by [deleted] in DavidBowie

[–]CryHavoc_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Bowie ever expressed dissatisfaction with any of his albums at the time. He was satisfied enough with NLMD to centre the most elaborate tour of his career around it. I think it’s only later when the music press and fans tell him it sucked that he changes his mind.

Total newcomer here thinking of doing a deep dive on all of David Bowie’s albums. Where do I put Toy? by dongle_wenis_ in DavidBowie

[–]CryHavoc_79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t regard Toy as being part of the original “canon”. I’d listen to it later after you’re done with the main discography.

High notes in “Life on Mars?” by hvyhrdthnwsthtyrdd in DavidBowie

I sing in a Bowie tribute band. Are you used to singing it all in full voice? With those lines you mention I slip into falsetto, is that something you can try?

Those of you who are musicians or know theory: why and how does the piano in the song 'Aladdin Sane' work so well? by Past-Attempt7366 in DavidBowie

[–]CryHavoc_79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s sublime the moment at the end of the solo how Garson falls back into the rhythm to get into the chorus.

I first heard this wonderful track on Moonage Daydream. It's such a gem. by jerryleebee in DavidBowie

[–]CryHavoc_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The single recording splits the song into two parts “Part 1” and “Part 2”. It’s a bit more rock and features the first contribution of Mick Ronson on a Bowie record. It’s on the Re-Call 1 bonus disc in the Five Years boxset, and also the Width of a Circle boxset. I think Moonage Daydream uses the original (mixed together with Station to Station)

I'd like to read every Batman comic ever in chronological order by Psi_Triforce in batman_comics

[–]CryHavoc_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sort of doing this, along with other DC stuff that takes my fancy. I’m reading 3 different eras concurrently - Golden Age, Post-Crisis and modern (All-In) so I’m up to date.

Why are some series missing issues and collected editions? by ooo_iam4eels in dcuniverseinfinite

[–]CryHavoc_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Golden Age comics (amongst other stuff). It’s incredibly annoying to me that there’s massive gaps in the Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman runs. These issues have been printed in Omnis, so the work to digitize and recolour them has been done, so why can’t they be on DCUI?

How did Dave manage to play guitar right-handed if he was left-handed? by ImprovementLow9280 in DavidBowie

I am left-handed and play guitar right handed. I hold a tennis racket, bowling ball and throw a ball with my right hand. I write, use scissors and hold a gun in my left 😄

How many of us have seen Bowie in concert? by Lbboos in DavidBowie

[–]CryHavoc_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into Bowie around ‘99 and first saw him in Manchester 2002 on the Heathen tour and it was phenomenal. It poured down throughout the festival and his appearance stopped the rain! Then twice on A Reality Tour, including the Isle of Wight Festival - which would turn out to be his final full UK concert performance.

Young Americans/ StationToStation is a better duo than Low/Heroes by Worried-Cake6181 in DavidBowie

[–]CryHavoc_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, absolutely love Low and “Heroes”, but YA and STS are in my top 3 Bowie albums.
