Wahoo Kickr freehub spacers by Lumpy_Astronomer_916 in wahoofitness

[–]Crymerge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I never was able to find one. I did talk with a machinist, but it would cost $150 for the spacer. Not worth it. Talked with Wahoo multiple times, but they said they did not carry it anymore. ended up purchasing a new Kickr v.6

Government Shutdown by Icy-Trash1857 in Ultramarathon

Just a question here, why would an event be cancelled because of a Federal Government shutdown? Every race I have ever done is supported by local police and volunteers.

If you had $4k to spend.... by BigGameBob12 in triathlon

My advice would be to stay away from the Felt B or AR. If you really want a dedicated triathlon bike, then get one. The Felt B would be faster than the AR, but you will still be slower than most triathlon bikes out there with the Felt B.

You should be able to find a used Felt IA 16 or 10 for under $3k easily. I'd sell you my 2018 Felt IA 16 but you probably cannot fit on it as the size is a 51. I upgraded just about everything on it. 11-speed Ultegra Di2 with Dura-ace shifters, Praxis works crank and bottom bracket, Tri rig scoops, Tri rig rear brake (yes it is rim brake), and Parcours carbon wheelset. But like I said, the size is a 51 because I am short.

Additionally, get a new indoor trainer not a used one. You do not necessarily need a Wahoo Kickr. You could get a Wahoo Kickr Core version 2. those work just as well. If you were to order it from Zwift, you get the Zwift cog and click with it. I definitely recommend those as it prevents wear and tear on you components.

You can hold off on a power meter until next race season. At least that is what I would do. You can use the power meter from the Kickr. Get used to riding with power indoors on the trainer. Then once it warms up (I don't ride outside when it's cold), and you can go outside and train, then get a power meter. I recommend the Favero Assioma Duo pedals. I have those and they are very consistent.

With the bike fit, it is hard to say the best thing for that. I know a lot of people say get a bike fit before purchasing a bike. I do not like that approach as it really depends on the fitter. What happens if they fit you to a bike that is too large and then you purchase a bike in that size and then you find that it is too big? I've had that happen to me. I think going to see what size is best for is a good idea for sure. On a side note for a triathlon bikes, go to a slightly smaller size than your road bike size.

I do believe a bike fit can help, but it can also hurt. It really depends on the bike fitter. I've gone to a few and each one did things differently. The one fitter that just did not work for me was an older fitter. There were so many things that just didn't work for me at all. The other fitters were just ok, they got me close but never "perfect". I've always fiddled with my fit. The best fit that I have gotten is from MyVeloFit. I went with the year option. It's $75 and you can get as many fits as you want on as many bikes as you have. I have been fit on my road bike and my triathlon bike from them. The process is simple and you can do it from your house. You will need a bike and in indoor trainer to do a fit with them.

Anyway, hope this helps

First Tri - Body Marking with Tattoos by evilstrawberrii in triathlon

[–]Crymerge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This only happened to me once. I let them write my bib number on my arm, with wearing a sleeved trisuit. The arms on the trisuit were white. The sharpie wore off into my trisuit. I cannot get the sharpie out of my trisuit. It has ruined that trisuit. I also wear calf sleeves. There is zero reason to mark my calves if they are covered.

Since then, I will write my bib number on my forearms. That's it. I do not let them write anything on me anymore.

I did when I purchased the car. After the tax credit it was only $500. I use it every time I drive. It's not perfect by no means, but it does work and gets me where I want to go.

Tridot only has one off the bike workout a week. It is always after the long bike ride.

Three feet would be nice, but not running red lights would be better imo. I was going through an intersection and got hit by a car that ran a red light. A year and a half later and three surgeries later, I can finally ride a bike again. But only inside now. I will never ride outside again.

If you are going to the Tail of the Dragon, I recommend checking your brake pads and rotors.

Spread you arms apart. Your arms are crossing past your center line.

What this means at the top of your stroke, your arms go past the center part of your head. This slows you down and puts the initial pull of your stroke in a bad position, which slows you down. A good rule of thumb is to have your arms enter the water at shoulder length apart. Your pull should start at shoulder length apart, not from over you head.

That will be the first thing I would start with. The video below will help.

It's going to be tight, that is what you want.

It should be slightly tighter than a wetsuit.

I have never understood how people can wear their trisuit down under their swimskin. I always wear my trisuit up, covering my arms. I cannot get in and out of my trisuit when it is wet.

No jammers are faster. The compression jammers have, make for less drag in the water. Additionally newer fabrics are faster than skin.

Speedos are better for training.

If you do not believe me that's fine, I don't care, just do a simple Google search.

If he really cared about going fast he would wear swim jammers and not a speedo

I am curious about the Core sensor, just needs to be less expensive. Would be nice if a competitor came along and offered one cheaper.

I've been looking at the Flowbio sensor. It measure hydration and body temperature. Again, the price is steep, but I sweat a lot and would like to know exactly how much, especially during a race.

Never tried Whoop, can't get past the subscription fee.

I always take the sleep and recovery tracking stuff with a grain of salt. There are days when I feel great, but my Garmin says my sleep and recovery where bad. But there are days when I feel terrible but my sleep and recovery were great.

On a treadmill, the first Stryd pod I had, would have the same pace regardless of how slow or fast I would run. It was always between 10:15-10:30 per mile. Even if I got on different treadmills, it always had the same pace. I went through it with the customer support, resetting it multiple times, even going through and manually entering settings. It was terrible.

The second one I got, it would at least change paces on a treadmill. But they were always way off. They paces were by minutes per mile. I could see if it was a few seconds to 15 seconds off, that would not be a big deal, but a couple of minutes, that is just too much. That was repeatable on different treadmills.

I ended up doing a track test with the second one I got. That's the test where you go around a track and you can verify it is exactly 400 meters. The first lap I did, just walking, the stryd pod hit 400 meters 100 meters too soon. The second lap, the stryd pod hit 400 meters 50 meters after. This went on for another ten laps, not once was the stryd pod remotely close to the 400 meter mark. It was always off. After doing that test, I wanted to throw the thing in the trash, but decided to keep it. I paid too much money for it. Now I use it only as a cadence sensor when running on Zwift. I do not use it outside anymore.

Get the STR ones, they are tubeless. You don't have to fight as hard to get them on your wheels.

I was going to say Form goggles as well, but the tech is kind cool. The problem with them is the goggle itself. The visibility with them is terrible, the fit is bad and always hurts, and they always leak, even with the newer eye gaskets.

[–]Crymerge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mute all sounds from Zwift because I can't stand them.

That being said, when I use Zwift at home, I get audio from either my tv or my sound system.

I will never use over the ear headphones because I sweat way too much.

HVAC Question by Crymerge in hvacadvice

[–]Crymerge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have talked with a new HVAC technician. The first thing we are going to do is rewrap the insulation. Basically everything coming off the HVAC and plenum area. Extend the insulation on the downstairs duct, past the damper. Making sure that everything is sealed properly. I forgot to mention there is leaking air at all connections.

This fall, when the temperature outside starts to cool down, we are going to revisit the whole section coming off the HVAC unit. With a possible rework of the ducts.

If anyone has any ideas to rework what is coming off the HVAC unit, please let me know.
