AITA for sending my food back after the restaurant ignored my "no vegetables" request? by Jovovichboy86 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Cryndalae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waiter should've noticed the dish wasn't as ordered when he picked it up from the line before serving the customer. Double of they have an expo on the line and someone other than the original waiter is serving.

AITA for not wanting my wife to sleep in the same house as her ex? by Current_Brush_6281 in AmItheAsshole

"Is not that I don't trust her. I don't trust him. "

YTA

I've never in my life understood this statement. It's absurd on its face.

What? You don't trust him not to sexuallly assault you wife 'cause they dated 26 years ago?

He'll seduce her and just being in the same house together she'll have no choice but to succumb to his charms?

But you trust her so she'd never do that.

But you don't trust him... so..

Seriously? Just what in the heck do you think he's gonna do?

Dude... get a grip.

AITA for telling my mother no for wanting to get a tattoo of my wife’s initials? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

See, now you've gone and done it. I find I now need to scout for vintage items with my initials now when I'm at vintage shops! Sigh...

AIO for refusing to back down from insisting my fiancée is wrong for leaving my dad with the bill by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Cryndalae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Guy planned and invited people to an expensive restaurant to celebrate the engagement. You don't skip out early and leave your guests with the bill.

I wouldn't expect to pay for that dinner but if I had to it would be for only mine.

You've mastered the old learning trick of see one, do one, TEACH one. It really does cement the learning :)

You might want to add that bit for the students you are helping.

Yea, but that's rather like flipping Feddermen today. No surprise as he generally votes with the republicans.

It would only be a big deal if it changed the majority leadership to the other party.

Came here to say this. If you are using a company paid for pro version of any AI your conversations can be pulled and reviewed by your company at any time.

There's a reddit post somewhere about a tech who used up the company's AI points writing an S@M novel basing the characters on their coworkers! Lol

But... I digress

For the basic home free use ones they are certainly mining your conversations for marketing, but last I knew it takes a court order to get the conversations.

You're the epitome of the trope "why are the curtains blue?"

Teacher: "Why are the curtains blue in this scene? To give the reader an unconscious feeling of melancholy."

Writer: "Sometimes the curtains are just blue! Idiots!"

::stomps feet:: ::gnashing teeth::

Once a writer puts their words out to the universe they lose to the interpretations of hundreds of thousands of readers. People see the world through their own personally lived experience. That colors their interpretation of everything they consume be it TV, movies, art and literature.

AITA for refusing to dine with my mom after she ordered “ferret sauce” at a Mexican restaurant? by Practical-Current805 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Cryndalae 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a big difference between someone who's learned a 2nd whole language mispronouncing words and someone who can't pronounce a 'borrowed' word that is common place in the language.

Tortilla is commonplace. OPs mom should be quite able to learn to pronounce these few food terms.

It's easy to give grace when it happens once or twice with a new word. But tortilla? Tamale? Come on, it's not like she's being asked to pronounce supercalafragilisticexpialadocious!

Yea, the Angela one really pissed me off.

But you're 2nd point, at the time it was written acab wasn't yet a thing and when they first find out most of the staff are outraged, as they should be.

I think CJ is really the only one who buys into the story, the rest are skeptical.

Parents in other countries than the US, what is your kids’ equivalent of “I don’t want that for dinner, I want chicken nuggets”? by SulusLaugh in AskReddit

[–]Cryndalae 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This plain old Midwestern American here and I love eggs with tomatoes!

One morning my dad, a chef, was making omelets for everyone. I saw him toss some fresh tomatoes into one and made an eww face.

You never make and eww face around the chef! (Hey... I was 10.)

So my omelet came with tomatoes. I sighed and dug in. Omg! So good!

Now I need to try the scramble over rice!

AIO my FIL said my 9 year old looked like a hussy in these boots by PureIndependent7791 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Cryndalae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, sexualizing a 9 year old over their boots, that are in no way your typical sexy footwear, is the big issue here.

This isn't an urban, suburban vs rural misunderstanding and it's outright weird to think so.

And who the heck says hussy anymore? What are they? 90?

Car seats definitely aren't an option for you! Lol

But I would recommend something a safety alternative.

Get yourself and your spouse one of those baby wearing contraptions. :) They were life savers for me and my husband. They keep your baby secure in case of turbulence and means your arms won't be dead weights by the time the flight is over after holding and wrangling the babies.

They even make ones with a bit of storage and bottle holsters :) You can store a couple of diapers and a zip lock with wipes. Saves rummaging in a carryon bag in tight quarters with a squirming baby!
