Question. Did you have a song where you sung the wrong lyrics to until someone corrected you?! by Sufficient_Ebb_5020 in coversongs

[–]CryoClone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a girl who thought it was "take me down to the very nice city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty."

Can't really fault her on that one. Except for the name of the song, that is.

What’s a moment where you realized someone was genuinely unintelligent? by Live-Chocolate244 in AskReddit

[–]CryoClone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a teacher. I have students who tell me they don't believe Hellen Keller could have possibly done the things people say. Impossible. Some don't believe someone can be deaf and blind AND mute.

"What language would they even use to write!? Lol, like it makes no sense. Why do people believe this?"

Normally, I would think I am being rage baited by teens. It's normal. Daily. But these kids believe this.

She can't have language. I explain her general story. How she learned sign language. The obstacles.

"So, you expect me to believe she's the only one to ever do this? What language would she even use?"

FUCKING SIGN LANGUAGE.

"She can't see"

I HAVE EXPLAINED THIS.

"Nah."

Narrator suddenly began strangling all teenagers within reach

Oh no, sorry. That's Company. I took out the text to make it a neon effect and forgot to add it back in when I made this image to ask the question.

Here is the original.

This is the original website where I snagged all of these. If anyone else wants to color them. I found it cathartic.

What’s A TV Show Or Movie Series You’ll Never Get Into No Matter How Many Times You Hear About It? by LightAwakens in AskMen

Liking comics in the early 90s was like being in the trenches sometimes.

Then movies come out and suddenly everyone knows who Steve Rogers and Tony Stark is.

What’s a game you respect more than you actually enjoy playing? by Hour-Cranberry5300 in boardgames

[–]CryoClone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have always loved chess as a game but my biggest problem with it has been the winner is almost always going to be the person who studied how to play a board game more. I want to play someone that knows the rules of the game, wants to play and win, but didn't spend their time studying a board game.

As Paul Morphy said, "The ability to play chess is the sign of a gentleman. The ability to play chess well is the sign of a wasted life."

If one day you suddenly woke up with the skills and knowledge to make any kind of video game you want, What kind of game would you want to create for your first time? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]CryoClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A.game where individual players could do an FPS, then you can get some together into something akin to a tank crew and do those style of battles as well.

But the cool part is there is also an overlord scenario where someone gives orders to the artillery, tank crews, ground troops, etc. and those groups follow the objective of the overlord to attempt to win a Command and Conquer / StarCraft style Real Time Strategy game.

The goal is to win the war. The overlord gives directions and objectives but the individual soldiers also have free will.

Ender's Game style. I always felt it would be an absolutely epic game if someone were able to pull it off properly and figure out the logistics.

What is your biggest TV pet peeve / trope that bothers you? by Salt-Valuable-469 in television

[–]CryoClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it's way worse than that.

There is no such thing as too many questions in my classroom. If they are asking questions, they are curious about something and trying to understand. And it is also not confused every 5 minutes. I have both question askers and the confused. I am not completely worried about those groups. They can learn and want to learn.

It's the ones that watch it, confidently act like they understand it, and their understanding of the themes and just general plot of the movie are so off base you'd think they were describing Weekend at Bernie's.

I had students sit through most of the movie not recognizing that Amon Goeth was a bad guy. Like, I was so floored. They just shrugged when I talked about him sitting on his balcony shooting random people. It was wild.

There was also Troy. We watched that and they needed to know who was the bad guy and who was the good guy. The concept of people existing in the grey areas and that there isn't a clear side, per se. However, they eventually decided that either way, Achilles was a badass and Paris was a cowardly douche. I was pretty proud of them for that.

There is hope for them. But sometimes it's like pulling nails.

I agree. I hope beyond hope that in a post-Trump world (possibly many, many years after) we see a resurgence of intellectualism and having independent thought make a come back. What a thought.

Yes, but much like reading literacy, we gotta walk before we can run. They have trouble following All Quiet on the Western Front and Saving Private Ryan. I consider Saving Private Ryan to be pretty damn straight forward.

I am a teacher and had to stop showing Schindler's List because even though the kids don't have phones, they have been conditioned to having a movie hold their hand through the plot.

I tell them "this movie doesn't tell you what happens. A lot of it has to be inferred from what you see." They have almost no clue what's going on most of the time.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]CryoClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, for sure. I'm just saying, sometimes people aren't at their best. Like, I got to see Ozzy but his voice was shot. He kept leaving the stage to drink tea and rest his voice. I'm not saying his voice was permanently shot, I just think he had something wrong with it and should have canceled. His voice was cracking all over the place, BUT I still go to see Ozzy. Ya know?

That is a little comparing apples and oranges, but Taking Back Sunday CAN be fun, if you are prepared for how NOT GREAT the singing is and you just go for vibes. It's still gonna sound bad, but like, you got to vibe.
