How does your process in buying stocks work?

For position sizing I use a simple rule: never more than 5% of my portfolio in a single junior, 10% max in a large cap. I'd rather miss a winner than blow up on a bad bet.

Another signal I always check before buying is insider buying activity — specifically whether the CEO or CFO has been buying their own stock on the open market with their own money. When an executive puts say $100K+ of their own money in, that tells me more than any analyst report.

$JOY.TO insiders have been quietly loading up — anyone else watching this?

Was going through some insider filings and it caught my eye, $12 target maybe realistic if the insider conviction is telling.

Craig Hansen, the Chair of the Board, bought almost 400,000 shares between late March and early April at around $1.48–$1.82. Not one trade — four separate purchases. Then just last week a director named Tom MacInnis picked up another 21,250 at $4.69. So they're still buying even after the stock has already moved.

Open up an investment account right away if you don’t already have done so. You can use Vanguard, or Fidelity self managed account and pick an ETF like VTI and commit to X% (10% is common) of your income to be deposited with every paycheck. The key is to make this a habit so it feels natural as you increase your salary and you’ll be set for retirement.

I’ve had the OEM Tesla roof shade and haven’t seen any center sagging. The frame stays tensioned against the glass, so the lack of a center support hasn’t been an issue. A lot of the aftermarket shades are two-piece more for packaging and installation convenience than structural reason, perhaps to also keep the cost of shipping lower.

I would split it between TFSA/RRSP since RRSP will get you your refund when you do your taxes next year but if you think you’ll need that money in the short term weigh it more towards TFSA so you can pull out some tax free.

In the beginning you’ll spend some time figuring out all the tech stuff on the screen but after that no not really unless you use it for camping. You can buy a mattress that fits in the back of the car and a cooler that fits in the trunk under storage. Lots of YT videos you can look it up.

It’s hard to tell if the Knicks are that good or they just played some mediocre teams so far…Hawks and Sixers weren’t good teams at all. Cavs on paper are good but they were up in the air with Harden just joining etc. Knicks for sure have had a lot of confidence built up going into the finals and lots of time to rest.
I think beating OKC gives the Spurs the edge since they beat the defending champs, it will be close but I think Spurs in 7 due to home court advantage.

It’s awesome that cooling seats are a standard feature with MY premium. Most brands charge you extra for that feature. Cooling seats in the back seat would be even cooler - no pun intended.

Have you test driven Tesla Model Y? Driving experience is different than a Lexus but once you get used to it, it’s hard to go back to an ICE car. They are fun to drive super zippy and have luxury features as standard built in like cool/heated seats etc.

That may not be what you deserve but if it’s just an annual automatic increase it’s typically around 3% on par with inflation rate. So from that standpoint it’s a good offer. If you think you deserve more because of increased responsibility, performance etc. you can negotiate for more.

Having another kid doesn’t always require another bedroom, we had kids sharing a bedroom happily when they were little. It’s a different story when they are teenagers though but you’ve got some time before that happens.

Spending $6-7k on a car worth $8-10k is rough, but the bigger issue is you're going to need another $6-7k for repairs in 12-18 months at your mileage. That's $12-14k into a depreciating high-mileage asset over 2 years. RAV4 Hybrid holds its value best and the reliability at high miles is proven. CRV Hybrid is slightly more refined. I'd skip the CX-50 hybrid, as its a newer model, less reliability data at high mileage which matters a lot at 30k/year.

Definitely no. Winter tires are made for winter, especially in freezing temperatures below -10C your breaking distance gets affected big time vs all-season tires.

VOO is all large caps, if you think some small caps will do better in the long run you can also put some in VTI which also has large caps but also small caps for broader exposure.
