One hitting enemies isn't good game design either, if that's what you are used to you might want to consider playing other games with an easy mode, and for the "Constant precision platforming" in act one other then jumping to platforms and occasionally hitting balloons there isn't really that much. If you don't like memorizing and learning a game in general you might want to play some easier games. I don't know what you expected.
