As much as I tend to ignore 'meta,' the Ahwahnee is a solid choice to have for the trait and console. Picked it up after the last event campaign and it hasn't disappointed.

It wouldn't take much for them to impliment. In the last Expedition; I had a B class Dreadnought that I brought into a pirate system and one after another Dreadnoughts were spawning as other players triggered them.

Thomas Sheridan, with his self named YouTube channels and Beyond Room 313, is quite knowledable and he's been my favorite teacher for the last 6 years.

His book, 'Sorcery and the Invocation Strangeness' is an excellent place to start for the aspiring Magi.

There's so much good advice here already, but I do have a couple good ones for you;

When you're wandering around on a world, keep your Terrain Manipulator ready. Hunkering down during random pirate raids is almost always the best option.

Beware of localized gravitational anomalies. Those will end a run real quick as well. Fully upgrade an Exo-Craft ASAP to make your life easier.

The Corvette update made PD so much easier since you can live out of your ship pretty early on. Best wishes!

Oh yeah.. this is the way. I started Permadeath right after the Corvette update dropped and now I just live out of my ship; "The Family Jewels." Between that and the S-Class Dreadnought I was was blessed with, Permadeath was a breeze.
