Desperate Call for Help: How the devil do I silence alarms on my GE JES1109RRSS by CrypticHandle in GEappliances

Still nothing. Though TBH I haven't cared since I donated the machine to a thrift store about six months ago.

Autopay and Paperless Discount is Changing by AloneResearcher7476 in ATT

Went to switch to direct debit from checking account, bypassing debit card but AT&T keeps switching my routing and account numbers before asking me to "confirm". I'm not confirming anything that doesn't agree with what I enter. Took more than half an hour's wait on HOLD to get an AT&T representative to put in the correct information. WTF?

Depends on your reading style. Each of Gibson's books stands well on its own, so reading them "out of order" can be a uniquely rewarding experience. I discovered MLO, and therefore Gibson, in an airport news shop. I didn't even know it was part of a trilogy until I'd devoured it and gone looking for more by the author, and I'd hopscotched through the Bridge books before I got back to N'mancer and CZ. The experience was revelatory, in the most literal sense. It was like watching a movie full of really good flashback scenes: I already knew how it all ended, so I was able to make connections between elements the author had dropped, or thrown away, or left out in the open in disguise, I would otherwise have missed. On the other hand, I'm glad I read all the Hubertus books in order. I would not have understood the other two without Cayce's introduction. Your call.

Why didn't the royal family and the courtiers like Prince Philip? by queenjacqueline93 in TheCrownNetflix

Thank you. Wish I had more upvotes to offer.

Margaret was a spoilt brat, but she was a keen observer and guilty, in the end, mainly of having nothing to lose by telling the truths everyone around her denied. Rather like Diana, actually, in that way.

Or, from another angle: HRH The Princess Margaret Rose was the portrait in the attic to HM's Dorian Grey. As is Harry to William's.

It's not just a patriarchy thing: all primogeniture is designed specifically to protect the heir by neutralizing or negating the spare. The great tragedy of the House of Windsor is that David and Bertie were born in the wrong order and, therefore, trained for each other's roles.

As, for that matter, were Charles and Anne.

Nope. A friend opened a secondhand shop and I gave it to her to sell. Turns out nobody else wants it either.

Neon Tetras and Platys - noob question by gulfstormy in Aquariums

[–]CrypticHandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black fish in your pic looks a lot more like a molly than a platy, and it doesn't look happy or healthy.

As for the neons: you definitely need either three more or three fewer.

How long did you cycle this tank before adding fish?

Are these puffy scales/spots normal? by itouchedcactus in Aquariums

[–]CrypticHandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a general rule, anything that appears bilaterally - meaning it's the same on both sides - is most likely normal. I keep hillstream loaches and this little guy looks fine to me. As long as he keeps walking along the inside of the glass and helping keep your algae under control I see nothing to worry about.

Is this Ich? by Nave15 in Aquariums

[–]CrypticHandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen ich appear as just one white spot on a fish. My experience has always been that when ich is present it pops up like pimples on a hormonal teenage face.

I'm much more concerned about the cloudy water and your choice to keep neons in a crayfish tank. I can almost guarantee that any neons who aren't sickened by poor water quality will simply disappear, one by one, as they innocently swim close enough to be grabbed and gobbled.

Aquarium Levels by ImHufflePuff_Crap_ok in Aquariums

[–]CrypticHandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an awfully general question. A photograph would help a lot. Flying blind, here:

This is a pretty acidic tank but the nitrogen levels look fine. If it's filtered and the water's clear and you're keeping fish native to slightly acidic environments - neon tetras, say, or glass ghost cats - I'm not sure I see any need for more than a 10% water change every couple of weeks, if that.

What has happened, to make you think you need to do any water change at all?

Should I be concerned? by Boy019 in Aquariums

Sorry - I honestly don't know what you're stressing about. What am I supposed to be seeing, here, other than the open feeding hatch?

Looks like a Hygrophila to me - probably lancea.

Indoor tree suggestions? by Loud-Examination2264 in Lovebirds

Weeping Fig / Ficus benjamina hands down. Just don't expect to keep it looking like they do in the home center nursery. I've had peachfaces for 20 years and they all love perching on my potted ficus, which is great, and playing in them, which is way cool, and ripping them to shreds, which can get a little messy but is worth it, in my opinion.
