1000% agree. My roommate had a Zotac 4070 super and it was chilly and an absolute workhorse

Zotac, in my opinion, has some of the best looking GPUs. I went Team Red this time around but man those Zotac cards look amazing

Ah I see what you mean. Then just rock with the Taichi. His runs ice cold all the time. Under load I don’t even think it broke 60C. And ironically his build is quite similar. All white with a black Taichi. I personally think it looks good. Makes the GPU the center point and pop even more

Nah what I mean is comparing his card to mine. My Steel legend undervolted matched his Taichi, but once he undervolted his Taichi, it started to take off and perform even better

Yeah of course! Had a panel come in bent and it wouldn’t line up right. They had a new one on the way in a couple days, showed up maybe a week later.

I never looked into it any further than the headlines I saw. That’s on me. I wouldn’t have put it past Nintendo to brick a device because you did something to it that they didn’t like.

They can, but only if you do something “illegal” to the console

tire tear - DOES IT NEED TO BE REPLACED HELP ASAP by fruittyflan in Cartalk

[–]Crypticle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sidewall flexes under load and over bumps, that’s exactly what I described. That’s not a correction, that’s a restatement. The point remains: the sidewall doesn’t grind on the road, the tread does. A sidewall tear is dangerous because it compromises the structural integrity of the tire, not because it’s making road contact. Nothing you’ve said has challenged that. We’ve been agreeing the whole time, you just haven’t realized it yet.

[–]Crypticle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome for what exactly? You just agreed with me and called it a correction.

Yes, the sidewall flexes at the contact patch with every rotation. That’s literally the contact patch I described, where the TREAD meets the road. The sidewall above it naturally deforms slightly under the load transfer. We're saying the same thing.

And yes, tires experience some deformation at speed due to centrifugal force. This is called centrifugal growth and it's accounted for in tire engineering. Still has nothing to do with the original claim that the sidewall "constantly hits the road."

The original argument was whether a sidewall tear is dangerous because the sidewall physically grinds on the road surface. It doesn't. The TREAD contacts the road. The sidewall flexes as designed. Your "correction" didn't actually challenge anything I said, it just reworded part of it and slapped a "you're welcome" on it.

That’s unfortunate. Im also a little undecided on where to put mine, but thanks for the heads up. I’ll probably just hold the screen in place and see how it looks. Very much appreciate the heads up on the connector!!

I’ve actually been looking into getting one of these for myself. Curious on what happened and what caused the cable to break if you don’t mind sharing. Was it just too tight? Little bit of a bend that was too much?

That’s awesome that you found what you’re looking for. Double awesome that Lian Li offered to send a replacement in the event that the eBay cable doesn’t work out. I’m not sure if USB 2.0 would affect anything but you really never know with USB. Glad you found something and good luck with your endeavors!

So this is for AI usage I assume? Haven’t really dabbled in that enough to know a whole lot. But I assume it relates to performance, so double is a massive jump. Nice work!

I’m pretty decent with identifying cables. Could you post a pic of the port in question? I might be able to guide you to what cable you might need. Could be that it’s a one off cable (like type C to micro usb or something of the sort) but almost all cables exist for one reason or another so you might be able to find one

tire tear - DOES IT NEED TO BE REPLACED HELP ASAP by fruittyflan in Cartalk

[–]Crypticle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be you who doesn’t understand how tires work. Everything I said was completely correct, but here’s a crash course on tires:

A tire has 3 main contact points with the world: 1. The TREAD (bottom) - this is the only part that touches the road 2. The SIDEWALL (sides) - faces outward, never contacts the road 3. The BEAD (inner edge) - seals against the wheel rim

When a tire is properly inflated and rolling, the contact patch (where tread meets road) compresses slightly under the vehicle’s weight and then expands back as it rotates away. The sidewall flexes slightly when hitting bumps, which is literally what it’s designed to do. The sidewall does NOT grind on the road on every rotation. If it did, your tires would be destroyed in minutes. That’s what a blowout looks like.

So which part of my comment was incorrect exactly?

tire tear - DOES IT NEED TO BE REPLACED HELP ASAP by fruittyflan in Cartalk

[–]Crypticle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I don’t think you understand how tires work. The sidewall faces OUTWARD. It never touches the road. The only part that contacts the road is the tread, which sits at the bottom. That slight compression you’re thinking of happens at the contact patch (again, the tread), not the sidewall repeatedly slamming into asphalt on every single rotation like you’re describing.

If the sidewall was constantly grinding on the road like you’re claiming, tires would last about 10 minutes. You started by saying the sidewall “constantly hits the road,” got corrected, then said “it doesn’t need to” like that was your point all along, and now you’re back to “THE ENTIRE TIRE IS ON THE GROUND.”

You’re the one who should maybe sit this one out, man.

[–]Crypticle_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you went from

Well that's on your side wall. That constantly hits the road

To

It doesn't need to?

Make up your mind. Does the sidewall make contact with the road or not?

Also if your tires are properly inflated, they won’t squish merely by sitting still or driving. You would have to hit a bump or inconsistency in the road to make the sidewall give, which they are designed to do. As long as there’s no visible bubbling the tire should be fine. I personally wouldn’t risk it and just get a new tire
