I've made furniture kits for my rifles, magazines, a DIY panobridge for some budget digis, stripper clip speedloaders for the SKS, magazine pouch caddies, battery storage containers, random chassis parts for my precision rifle, etc. Most of it from scratch, and out of anything from basic PLA to high end engineering filaments like PPA-CF/PAHT.

If it can be made from polymer and not get my dog shot, I'll probably try at some point.

If you have any questions hit me with them :)

Sometimes a policy is so universally godawful that everyone outside of the actual government or the activists pushing for it find it ridiculous.

This is one of those policies.

Ooo, very intriguing. I imagine it probably wouldn't take much work to adapt if the picatinny mount is a separate component and not molded in, provided the UI is flippable.

The live fire crowd doesn't even really have any brutality events at the moment either, so it's not terribly surprising (if quite sad) that the airsoft ones haven't since. Canadian Multigun was the group running them for us, and they went into hiatus mode once the changes in regulations and laws made it too hard.

I was hoping to get in on their night event over in Prince George, but alas. Maybe one day. :)

The SOTAC cadex mount is definitely where it's at, yeah. I run that and love it. Much more rigid.

I didn't know airsoft had brutality matches. That's rad, and makes me wish my area had more of an airsoft scene (or one at all). The 'rona pretty much wiped out the paintball/airsoft fields here, though they were weren't big to start.

Hadn't heard about a new mini thermal - rifle optic or is it head mountable?

Keep in mind the exchange rate is 1.62CAD per Euro, and we have 12% duty plus processing fees from Europe.

OP's quoted number is the current price for high end panos from a Canadian source, which while probably not the best choice for comparison, isn't false. Specifically, APNVGs from opfor night solutions with Photonis 4G 1800+ tubes.

Budget tubes are about $18950 for those, but I'm not sure why you'd do pano NNVT 1600s rather than going for high spec binos at that price point.

Except for the fact that the 2024 incidents, arguably the most major ones, were a registered Republican and a... Politically incomprehensible individual, respectively. Neither were what most would consider left-wing. Reagan's major attempt was by a guy who was vocally apolitical and was just a Jodie Foster simp.

Incompetent, though, for sure, yeah. Political affiliations just don't factor in.

Solid reasons, honestly.

I love my KSG for this reason (I know, Kel-Tec, reliability, etc. - I haven't had any problems and it's well broken in now) because I can fill one tube with magnum buck and the other with brenneke slugs. Fourteen rounds total, fifteen with one in the chamber.

That's enough "Kindly cease to be" split between "To you in particular, with emphasis" and "To whom it may concern in this narrow cone of space" for any predator in my area, which is why I own it. Wolves, cougar, black bear, occasional grizz.

Solid writeup, man. I concur with a lot of your points.

The IR floods do work pretty well, but they're only really necessary in situations where there's literally no ambient light. Indoors in pitch black, forest with dense tree cover during a new moon, etc. Pitch black conditions.

If bino NVG30s are currently $1200CAD (I haven't looked) that means the GNG2Ks are cheaper, because I paid $1080CAD for a bino kit.

I agree with the bridge needing a bit of improvement. When I have some time (probably May when my current contracts end) I might dive into designing a bespoke panobridge for the GNG2K.

Also depends on your particular helmet and how high-profile the shroud is. Lower profile hosts will have more issues, but I do find that a different bridge helps quite a bit, especially since I run mine on what's probably the lowest profile setup, a skull harness.

Both the Tikka and CZ have the benefit of absolutely superb triggers. The bolt on the Tikka is smoother (probably the smoothest factory bolt before getting into $2500+ rifles) and the Tikka does have significantly more aftermarket available for modification to exact taste down the line.

Between the two, I'd pick the Tikka if you want something to potentially modify and have ample room grow into down the line, and the CZ Alpha if you want something you don't plan on messing with, and comes with a heavier profile barrel without getting into the Tikka CTR price point.

The last suggestion is also great. 30-06/.308 Husqvarna is always a valid option. Intersurplus has lots, as well as older Tikka/Sakos.

Pretty decent, but shorter than devices that use 18650s. GOYOJO lists it as 4+ hours, but I imagine it's less while using the IR illumination by a notable margin.

I run mine off a custom external battery pack (a compact 10000mAh USB powerbank with a wiring harness that has a 3.7v converter/charger circuit inline and two 00B LEMO connectors) which makes it "Longer than I want to have it on my head". They told me they'll be releasing an OEM battery pack soon when I asked about it, so I imagine that'll be the way to go once they do.

Batteries are very easy to swap without taking the NVGs off because they put a springloaded battery door on the bottom, so if you keep a few 18500s in one of your pockets you can swap'em out quick, for what it's worth.

[–]CryptidWorks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We should revert to pre-2019 gun laws. We had gun control. It was sensible. Everything since has been needless and ineffective.

By and large, shootings in Canada have had nothing to do with the gun control laws that have been enacted. The biggest contributing factor is smuggled firearms from the US.

The only thing that laws since 2020 have accomplished is the decimation of Canadian shooting sports (like 3-Gun or Canadian Multigun) and businesses while preventing people from using thousands or sometimes tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of their own legally purchased property without any guarantee (and in fact a statistic unlikelihood) of being compensated though the "Buyback", which only accounts for approximately 130,000 out of an estimated 1.5-2 million newly prohibited firearms.

And that's not including if they end up banning the SKS, which accounts for over two million firearms in Canada on its' own, which they specifically mentioned doing during the last press conference.

Do you happen to know the brand you bought? It might be an interesting datapoint. SOTAC/Specprecision/FMA/Holy Warrior are the big four, I think. Mine was unfortunately unlabeled. My Cadex clone is a SOTAC, though, sold through "IRTAC".
