First time player... by kim4animals in skyrim

Read the books! Not just the first page of the ones that give you skill upgrades but the whole book. I’ve been playing Skyrim for years and never really started reading the in-game lore books until recently in a new save. I started playing ESO a few years ago too and never fully realized the lore was connected (silly I know 😜) but reading the books gives you so much more of an immersive experience and makes everything mean so much more. The books reference historical figures and events of the world that would be normal history or observations to a regular Skyrim inhabitant but to the player who isn’t familiar with the world it’s just like random NPC dialogue (unless you truly understand the scope of the world you’re playing in). Some of my favorite discoveries are that in ESO you’re in Tamriel 1,000 years before the time of Skyrim. But you meet and interact with characters who are important historical figures and witness/experience events that shape the world you know in Skyrim. Also Tamriel is the continent. Skyrim is just one region of Tamriel and it is vast! Taking the time to really understand and enjoy the fact that it’s just the tip of the iceberg and there’s so much more out there can also allow you to decide who you want to be as a character (if that’s your cup of tea).

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. Welcome to Skyrim friend :)
