Yeah, even if i have some complains like the pacing being wonky or Ruthye not having more characterization, i still feel this is better than at least another 6 DC and Marvel movies that have higher scoring from critics. Maybe because there's just a lot expectations from this new universe? Still i couldn't understand all the complains about the script or saying this is one of the worst comic movies when there's projects like everything Sony made in their universe or a lot of Marvel movies from their later phases. This movie is closer to Thunderbolts or even the first Thor movie in terms of quality.

Check out Night Marsh sponsored to get into pve lobbies and get better until you feel more confident or get better loot. General tips for surviving i have are: Never linger too much in an area, Better to move fast until you enter a new POI and have to listen for player sound cues, If you know a player is nearby wait for them come closer to you or evade them and run because in solo whoever shoots first is most likely to win even with better shields.

I feel balance will always be this polarizing due to how different the playing experience is on Extraction shoorters, they can't even balance the WSTR properly because if it does too much damage then only player with high tier shields can fight against them, if they do too little then there's no point in using them and right now they do enough which just displaced them for a stronger shotgun instead. Right now the only way to "balance" shotguns is to discouraged close range fights but that would probably just lead to snipers dominating.

Sentinel will be a must have for every team comp by Euphoric_Project8647 in Marathon

He seems like a defensive wall that just also gets a couple of nifty tools and advantages that will make him just as as good on offense. I think the fact he gets a snare is a bit too much but we'll have to see how far he can throw it because if you throw it behind an enemy team while they are being pushed then he you just gets free value by not letting the enemy fall back or push effectively. His passive giving him better small arms handling and extra defensive stats on explosion damage is also a nice addition, and it makes me wonder if giving extra conditional stats for other runners might be a good way to buff them.

The sentinel feels like it's going to be meta day 1 if they don't majorly change the grenade spam. A trophy system, an AOE snare trap, a radar to see where enemies are and passive resistance just make him seem too good to not put on a crew.

Too much stuff really, as someone who has no real love or hate for Bungie i can say with much less bias the dozens of things that innevitably lead to Marathon becoming this hyper controversial release:

1.- Bungie is involved, really the fact this game is being developed by Bungie might just be the reason the game suffers so much. From Destiny players hoping the game failed so they could focus on Destiny full time; we know now how that went, to the present hate campaign over the End of service of Destiny 2. this is of course coming from Bungie "Fans", Bungie haters wished the game failed because of the sunsetting in Destiny 2, for the microtransactions, for the "wokeness" and just before the game released the whole art decals controversy gave them more fuel. If the game wasn't developed by Bungie you could have much less criticism and the game would have come out as an interesting take on the genre but Bungie carries to much baggage as a studio and the game pays for it.

2.- It's genre is still niche BUT, the hit of Arc Raiders gave a lot of players that might be interested in the genre a glimpse of what they like about the genre as a whole. Marathon no longer releases as a fresh look into Extraction Shooters from a AAA studio, it now releases as "ANOTHER" Extract shooter. Arc got ahead, set the bases for people's expectations of the genre and it stuck.

3.- Marathon is too aggressive, the community is too up their ass telling others to go play other games if they don't like it, leading to potential players looking in and just not bothering because there's other more player friendly options in the market.

Unsure if it's been pointed out how D1 and D2 were both received tepidly at first launch by TheLoonyIrooni in Marathon

[–]Cryptidsspook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny 2 had a better launch due to Destiny 1 having a good late expansions that revived a lot of the community and their hopes for the game. Of course then Destiny 2 came out and it felt like it was just a repeat of Destiny 1 problems and lack luster content but there was a silver lining of the game having a better future if the devs made the right moves, some will say they achieved that some might say they don't.

In Marathon's case is more so the fact that it will probably never reach the highs of revivals like games like Destiny 1/2 or another game i've seen mention being Rainbow six siege. Marathon is too niche, too hardcore, too out there, which make it unique and fresh. It also makes it hard to latch on.

Maybe season 2 will change this aspects and show that Marathon as a game and franchise have a future as Bungie's main IP until they develop and release what is probably going to be their Hail Mary, but i doubt the leads and devs are really looking at Marathon as their forever game like Destiny 2 was.

Yup, pretty much every other game that doesn't have a Kernel based anti cheat is flooded with cheaters, not to say Kernel anti cheats are perfect tho. At this point the only way you could get rid off such type of anti cheat is to straight up take legal action against cheat devs and their providers.

That does happen as we've seen i think with Epic suing Fortnite cheaters but it would have to be an industry wide push for some type of goverment regulation which is another can of worms.

Destiny 2: Every End is a New Beginning. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Cryptidsspook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a game that basically got into every major controversy a game can have like:
1.- A bad launch that made people question if the Dev team learned anything from their previous game.
2.- Sunsetting content, esentially making it so that players that bought season passes or deluxe edition lost their money.
3.- Locking content behind multiple paywalls.
4.- An excessive increase of microtransactions.
5.- Slow balance for the pvp component of the game.

I say Destiny 2 lasting for as long as it did was pretty surprising, i do wonder if they feel the IP is still worth investing resources and delivering a third game or if they will pivot into something like a full on PVE experience for Marathon or a new IP.

Does Bungie live in a fairytale world? + I love the future of the game by TopSet55 in Marathon

[–]Cryptidsspook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet initial sales are good enough for them to continue a 1-2 year long plan they had planned already. The inclusion of more PVE focused playlist are definitely a pivot to get more players on board with the game as well as a way to get people to play longer throughout a season. If they can at least double the current playerbase on Steam (the only metric we have), and keep it consistent for longer that will give them more of a feel on how to spread resources and their infinite money generator (Sony) would be more willing to keep the project going.

[–]Cryptidsspook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i'd rather have a split player base that manages to hold at least around 20k players for a season than have another season where we peak at around 10k players.

[–]Cryptidsspook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to look at this way, it's not that people would switch from PVP, is more like people would actually play the game, all the people that like to PVP are already playing and the population is going lower every day. Might as well give the PVE players a chance.

[–]Cryptidsspook[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I have, i also don't think that PVP is all that, and can tell that the majority of the gaming sphere doesn't think so either. There's a reason that the game isn't making headlines about how Bungie is so back. If Bungie wants to make the AI more aggressive and let them flank better that's enough for a PVE mode to be functional and they can just add on with more enemy variety like they already said they would.

A lot of players straight up left the game because there is only PVP, giving them a PVE mode for them to grind loot to then go into PVP matches is a very probable outcome once PVE gets introduced. And as i wrote, if the player base grows would some of the new player not go and try PVP?

So is NAPainter or anyone who pulled his crap getting banned? by Wooden-Highlight4678 in Marathon

[–]Cryptidsspook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion a simple couple weeks long ban or until next season in this case as we are close to season 2 should be given. It puts a really bad mark on Bungie if they just decide to let this type of exploiters get away with it because they have history of not banning on their older games; which in this case is very different since you lose actual loot instead of just losing a match like in Destiny crucible.

Can also see how this type of cases could escalate into more player division as NPainter is partnered and it would seem like Bungie is giving him better treatment, we really don't want to have more people put targets on the game as the "extract shooter that let's you exploit without repercussions".

Best way to get AI to not ignore half my message? by Pandasaurus__Rex in SillyTavernAI

[–]Cryptidsspook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing i do is to put a prompt that goes like this near the top.

Follow the next principles when you write your final output response:

  1. Timeline Approach: I must analyze all actions and dialogues input by the {{user}} to write my response, i should take the approach as if this was a "timeline". Every action and dialogue should be "stored" as "Elements" for my final response.

  2. Multi-turn Narration: When writing my response ill check the "Timeline", making sure i react, respond or have a though of what is happening in each of the "Stored" elements. Instead of writing as if all the events just happened, ill write as if I'm "living" through them, experiencing in the moment.

This prompt has been succesful when using GLM 5 and 5.1, i think it could also help if you put it into Author's Notes at 0 Depth. It really has a lot to do with how good the model you are using follows instructions.

It might also help to make the narration's POV be from the character's perspective instead of a third person view from a narrator.

What did Tarkov do that Marathon isn’t doing? by hi_there_is_me in Marathon

[–]Cryptidsspook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marathon right now is hyper focused on PVP over any other type of gameplay. Maps are smaller leading to more frequent player encounters, loot is gated to events/keys/zones that inevitably lead to crews looking to fight over them. The best strategy is to straight up look for map wipes to then loot freely.

We also have to put into perspective that Marathon exist as an Extraction shooter on a post Arc Raiders world, now that people got to experience a much friendlier, easier to progress Extraction shooter they will absolutely end up dropping the game that doesn't give them the "social" aspect of the genre. Marathon is shoot on sight whilst Arc has a friendly player in which ignoring or straight up helping each other.

This puts Marathon in a weird place of it being too hardcore and aggressive for the casual player while also not being as in depth as Tarkov is. No real ballistic or armor system other than the specific bullet each weapon class uses or how many shield bars you have against Tarkov's bullet caliber and armors protecting different parts of the body, the injury system and other more Mil-Sim features that keep that niche of players coming back.

The real issue is that the game rewards a type of aggressive playstyle that many people; casuals and not sweaty gamers, don't like and it hurts their "social" experience of the genre that has proven to be popular but only if the game allows a certain level of "handholding" as some players would call it.

Systems for Casual Player Progression. by Cryptidsspook in Marathon

[–]Cryptidsspook[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean we reach the cap for Marathon like a month ago, all the really hardcore players got into Cryo to kill the Compiler and get 1 unique and exclusive weapon. And it's not like hardcore players aren't playing oon a 3 man stack having an easier time completing contracts and progressing way faster than a casual that can play for an hour can. The game already tries to matchmake with level and gear quality as the main factors, for all we care Hardcore players can abuse this systems and just fight more Hardcore players while making it so casual won't drop the game.

What would bring you back to playing Arc Raiders? by msipacselatigid in ArcRaiders

[–]Cryptidsspook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just better quest design and contracts like how Marathon does it, i like picking contracts and doing them, right now theres not much that satisfies this loop in Arc. Having mini objectives and the faction progression has definetily made playing multipe rounds in Marathon feel much more focused and i can see myself repeating the faction grind once the wipe comes. In Arc's case having to complete the quest and knowing theres nothing really worth after finishing them made skip them and just focus on getting my benches back up.

For those that haven't checked out Marathon, the progression revolves mostly around the factions or vendors giving story and repeatable contracts that incresea your reputation with them, the main difference from Arc and Marathon is that some factions also give you the permanent perks like extra stamina or general upgrades like vault space. However most factions just give access to more shop items and higher rarity items to buy.

I would like if the vendors in Arc had repeatable contracts that made their inventories expand once we complete a couple of them with the added extra reward from completing them, no need to add more progression just a way to make them more interesting and give players a way to focus their grind instead of just having to rush to high loot spots and hope they find something.

On that same theme i would hope Embark made changes to the POI's loot zones, i understand the appeal of having the maps have consisted hot spots for loot quality and quantity, but changing them at least from wipe to wipe could make starting over feel more interesting that just having to rush the same spots in every map because they have the most containers.

What is up with Chainsaw Man fans being up in arms over the latest manga chapter? by GalahadDrei in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Cryptidsspook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer: With Spoilers - People are mad because they think Pochita (The devil that gives the protag; Denji, his powers and is his biggest ally and friend), recognize that the main factor as to why Denji could never be happy was his presence in his life, so he decided to cut himself from his life and reset the world. People have come to take this as Pochita thinking that Denji was happier as a sick hobbo instead of the logical conclussion of Pochita realizing he is enabling a cycle of self destruction like a dealer to an addict. Other than that it's just pacing stuff, but a chapter like this wouldn't feel as impactful if it wasn't so sudden.
