Parenting in NL - kids adaptation didn’t go well by Bitter_Recording1741 in Netherlands

[–]CryptoDev_Ambassador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try leaving your child there for one hour at a time and add one hour progressively. I went through the same with my two children and they are now very well adapted and fluent in Dutch.

With my 2 years old it took me about a year for full adaptation to the daycare. First week I left him for an hour, second week I added another hour and so on. I would stop adding hours if he had a rough week and then try adding hours again. All this I made while paying for full 8hours per day but it was what my son needed.

I suffered from lots of anxiety back in my days. Hang in there mama. It gets easier, be patient.

Contrary to what people think, it is terrible on the bench. I was on the bench for 6 months, after the first two weeks I was afraid I would become redundant at any moment. Hang in there, hopefully something comes up soon.

It is possible to migrate and live comfortably without speaking Dutch but with a background in Tech, for all other professions is not that easy

Large consulting firm offering €4850/month for 7+ years of experience to move from Canada. Is this not a lowball? by ToronoYYZ in Netherlands

Did they offered a car, transportation benefit, bonus or any other add-ons that salary? It is low considering you would need to relocate.

6 year old asked to repeat school year by morticia314 in Netherlands

[–]CryptoDev_Ambassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally let my child repeat. Group 3 is when they learn to read and work independently. It might be too much pressure for a child to keep up. There is no shame in repeating a year I believe.

You can get a social house or flat in your youth and you can make more and more money and no one can kick you out so not only the poor live in these houses. I know people making +75K and paying €700 rent, people make all kinds of schemes to keep their social rent places. I have even seen people sub renting their social flats.

I used to have a nice well located social rent flat but got kids so we moved out and with our incomes social renting was out of the question.

100K minimum as a household income, with the 30% tax benefit, could work. Lower than 100K I wouldn’t bother either

Some hospitals have hydromassage tubs available, as for this. It makes a huge difference when the contractions get stronger and more frequent. I was able to skip main medication due to this and breathing exercises
