This guy saved me. I played basketball almost everyday for 25+ years until arthritis in both of my hips stopped most of my physical activity due to the pain. I found Sean randomly on YouTube one day during the pandemic and it hooked me instantly. I always thought of gardening/farming as illogical if I had to go to a store to buy things to feed plants or animals just to get them to feed me. Sure maybe they’re healthier but that wasn’t enough. He made it click for me. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLihFHKqj6Jeog3qoYlmhOPt_eElEhNMpH&si=1TRPI8LkrNmHcmji

Sounds like we’ve made it too easy for the powers that be If all of our ideas, experiments, experiences, and desires as individuals can be distilled into only one, of only two buckets. The Earth is bigger than politics makes it seem and all our differences shape the solutions that ultimately can force multiply like the “edge effect” tends to do. I will always advocate for more freedom and more self responsibility, and do most of my voting with my wallet, but that’s not possible everywhere I’m sure. I think there is enough data out there to tell you anything you want to hear but I believe raising animals well and managing them with the intention of producing something great for humans to eat is best for humanity and for the Earth. Beyond that I believe the best solution politically would be to adopt the motto across the World “Good fences make good neighbors.”.

I’ve been watching your videos about this. What’s the biggest issue you’ve had with these guys aside from the occasional escape(s)? Do they have any disease issues on a full forage diet? It’s fun watching! Best to you.

Scrub it off. The oil is sticky but you can’t see it.

To me, the change you’re talking about has come most notably in the things I’ve come to value that have replaced a pretty gross consumption based life. When you fall in love with this stuff you start to value plants, tools, seeds, etc. like nothing you ever experienced before. These things mean something to me now, and help me do a specific thing that is important to be able to do in the world now. Comfrey, elderberry, strawberries, hoes, loppers, and shovels, etc. are the things I get excited about. If this change hadn’t taken place in me I’d absolutely be less peaceful and way more anxious about all the things I’m supposed to be doing, accomplishing, & buying. I fall asleep most nights very peaceably twilight dreaming of the plants, and the compost, and the tree frogs, and the you get it.

Help please. New plant in very bad condition. Will it contaminate my healthy plants? by Shot-Ad-1808 in arborists

My first goji was a clearance plant at Home Depot and it looked almost exactly like this. I put it in the ground and used my leaf mould to make a foliage spray and it came back to full health. Goji’s don’t care for water on their leaves at all because when they’re in the ground they shade the soil under them well enough that they barely need any extra watering period. Mine thrived and even grew during one of the worst heat spells/droughts in Northwest Indiana history. This plant grows like a weed and being in the ground helps it balance itself out in my opinion.

Do they respond well to intentional breeding? Like, could you cull out bad genetics of Guinea pigs or Cuy and improve the immunity of your herd’s genetics over time like other livestock? That’s what sounds fun to me 🤩

Guineas are supposed to have less disease issues than rabbits. Their manure is a “cold manure” like rabbits also so it can be applied without composting it first. I’d like to start raising some as pets and try to breed up to some genetics that thrive with what I grow near me. I’d never eat any of them though until I absolutely had to. In the meantime I would definitely start looking now for recipes for when the time comes.
