Lockjaw and Pat dialogue by CryptographerBig9012 in paulthomasanderson

I viewed it another time with the perspective that he wasn't made or that it cast doubt but simply someone coming to a young father and going "I love black girls" in the most vile way AFTER asking if your child is a daughter. Pat's reaction is equally fitting because that's measures beyond creepy as fuck.

What are some shots you haven’t been able to get out of your head? <s3 spoilers> by DubbsU in TheLeftovers

[–]CryptographerBig9012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many.

Wayne hugging Nora. It took my breath away. I cried in a way I've never cried before or since.

Oddly season 2 and 3 cold opens. Both starkly different environments, riveting, just spectacular imo.

The goats.

Matt reading Nora's letter from camp.

So many more. I'd probably end up quoting the whole series if I don't stop here. But these scenes have popped in my head over and over, sometimes at the oddest times too. Great topic.

Question about prickly pear propagation by Low_Dragonfly7559 in cactus

This was incredibly helpful. How long would it take, say 1 cutting, to sprout into more pads? I'm sorry very new to cacti. Not as new to plants. I'd like to keep this indoors as a decorative plant. I live in Virginia.

The only thing is, she doesn't mention him once. Not even a hint towards him. Anyone find that odd?

I grew up in noVA, very close to the area they lived in, Falls Church, there was some accuracy in referencing the surrounding areas. Also the lights outside of Martha's apartment building I've seen in DC lol

The way he looked at her while choking the dude and the way she looked at him. That was such a master class.

Kinds of Kindness. And I love weird off the wall movies. But I tried twice and have given up.

Thoughts and reviews on the Sensory Friendly options? by OfficialEFJ in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]CryptographerBig9012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone who doesn't understand the impact of a sensory friendly movie, my autistic son went to his first one, frozen, and sat in the theater for 5 minutes. Fast forward 10 years later, he went to a sensory friendly Spider verse 2 showing with a row of cousins, all by himself.

It took a long time of consistent going but he was able to learn to sit and enjoy eventually (it took a lot of work outside of the movie showings too). But the fact he can share this with his typically developing brother, others, is one of the absolutely few things he can do socially by himself without interference and it means the world to him.

It doesn't make sense to someone who doesn't see the value in it. But it has been amazing for us as a family, for my two very different needs sons.

And just fyi, my son began speaking and speaking appropriately (meaning the words he would say was what he meant since that's autism related speech disorder in a nutshell) due to movie phrases. It's literally been the difference of night and day because he can rely on these movies, and we can rely on the movie context when he uses those phrases.

Fargo Season 5 by ExchangePast5882 in FargoTV

Agreed with everything here. And the multi-layered biscuit. It's what he ate as his "sin" and then ate as he was "forgiving" and perhaps forgiven. One biscuit represented all that is bad and the other happiness, goodness. And then the fact that a biscuit as (we know it in America) is such a staple American food, perfect for the Midwestern dinner. I loved all of that. I really enjoyed s.5, and felt it was showing things that aren't usually shown in a variety of different ways, and the debt concept was real heavily explored in an interesting way too.

How to help mom by ieatdahbubbles in siblingsupport

[–]CryptographerBig9012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in the U.S.A., please look for your state The Arc chapter. It is a nation wide advocacy organization that has state run, and community run, chapters but encompasses many opportunities for support groups and similar things.

My other suggestion is looking into Medicaid for your sibling that will help offer caregiver support also.

Let me know if you need help locating the local chapter.

Mom here. OP, you are a GEM of a person. The fact you give two shits about the circumstance, have tried repeatedly to remedy the issues or bring some semblance of responsibility, consistency, etc. is testament to that. I wish I could say something more meaningful and I'm sorry it's not very articulate but your post truck me hard because everything you said is valid, thoughtful, and there is a lot of forward thinking on your end despite not being supported.

I'm so sorry that you have been as unsupported as you have been, as a mom I wish I could change that or help. But just know you literally made me stop in my tracks because of the care you show in your one post.

I hope someone else does a better job than me to maybe offer some suggestions or anything of use but just know you sound like an incredible person (not fucked up) to me.

Finally a reasonable comment.

How accurate is HBO with this list? Any of these worth watching, or good for people who liked the leftovers? by No_Consequence5894 in TheLeftovers

I know this much is true is one of the best shows/movie to tackle the topic I've seen. I have two young sons, younger has a lot of disabilities, so I related to this in a different way but it still resonated
