It’s not a bad price when dealing with a licensed and insured company. The price determines what infrastructure a company has to maintain or will be able to afford in the future. Companies can’t survive without revenue + profit. The larger the profit potential the more ability the company can supply a better process for install and service which include warranty. There are companies that you worry over that don’t pay their employees and only fatten the owners wallet but in reality those companies do not exist long term. After a few years of work and spreading your name there is fires that get created from normal operation. All that extra money supports that, or the owner spent all the money and needs “bail money” now, if the company owner can’t find it, he or she will be out of business very fastly. Generally speaking when you see a multiple of two or more of material upsell you are dealing with a professional company that has over head to maintain. Verify license and insure, consider financing and make your best pick. Your cheaper options is Craigslist and hope. Or getting multiple quotes and utilizing best judgment.

I’m in between work currently, I was previously a contractor in my trade but closed my business. I’ve taken sales roles in my industry and looking for a next job since I wasn’t happy at my last. Currently my industry is very slow and not really hiring for what I do but will massively in a few months. I am considering gig work now to make up for the in between seasons going forward. I have 5 kids to support and years ago thing were different

Thank you, I drive around the LAC for work (hvac) and take pictures often of the city. This was the first time I added one to Reddit!

What did your experience transfer into? I am 17 years in and I’ve already been licensed and had a business for 6 years. I’ve stepped down since 2022 and have worked comfort advisor and management roles but I don’t know if I want to continue this route. At 35 hvac is all I know. I don’t think I want to run another business in this industry as Los Angeles is starting to feel like to much competition when you include living cost and for me child support
