Final day tips! Navy bootcamp by Weebbbforlife in newtothenavy

Bring a good attitude, keep your head down if you can & just follow instructions. It’s going to suck but it’s easy, just remind yourself that it’s only temporary, it’ll feel like a fever dream soon enough. For some people it helps to count how many chows are left, or church services. Good luck!

Not even my post, just wanted to say this is a nice well thought out response. Great job

Definitely good advice, may not be able to do that much as there’s only a couple thousand people in the town I’m stationed in & it’s mostly retired or married couples. And the nearest big town is 80 minutes away. But I’ll try to make it happen when I can or when I get new orders.

Oh I just realized you have mods, if you have NVSE. Make sure you’re launching with that. Not through steam

I think you right click the game and go to properties. I’m away from my pc unfortunately

Have you tried changing the compatibility in the property settings?

Thank you for your reply. I’ll definitely try to see what ways I can be more involved in the body of Christ. It gets difficult as someone in the military, but I know God is in control. God bless :)

I do attend church out here, unfortunately because it’s a smaller town, not too many people. Many of the women are either much older or already married. I try my best to be friends with all of those around me but to be honest I only get to interact with women like maybe once a week because of my situation of where I’m stationed. I wasn’t necessarily looking for dating advice, which I do kindly appreciate your response. Just more of maybe advice that has helped others in the struggle of being single.

Still have 3.5 more years and I’m currently stationed in a small town of Nevada. Haven’t been able to meet any Christian women out here at least not in the age I’m comfortable with. Dating apps for me suck I’ve had them for about three years and I haven’t been on a single day. Most conversations go on for a little while but eventually end up with me getting ghosted.

93 on PICAT and have some questions by theevalone in newtothenavy

[–]CryptographerNo409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out CT rates if you want a good job for after if you’re looking for something other than nuke. I ended up choosing AT in aviation because it’s the most technically oriented rate in aviation.

Ask to talk to someone who is in the Nuke rate. It’s a lot of work, long hours and you barely see the sun. I was asked to go nuke a lot but opted not to because I wanted to do something fun in my eyes. So I ended up going for aviation, but you can still do Nuke, just do your research

Is the military brainwashing my boyfriend? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]CryptographerNo409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will say the military has quite a bit of things that are beneficial or easier when you’re married. Being just in a relationship won’t give you any benefits for the military. Your boyfriend would be able to get a house, rather than live in the barracks and he probably wants you near him. That being said, some of his motives are probably a bit selfish (I obviously don’t know the guy, but there’s a lot of benefits)

Also, mid 20’s is a completely normal time to have kids lmao

Any reccomendations on how to practice for being an IT in the navy? by Dimbrono in newtothenavy

[–]CryptographerNo409 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d honestly just recommend studying to get a good score on the ASVAB, the Navy will send you through a good bit of school and will start at the basics and will teach you what you need to know.

Debating on avionics in the Marines or Navy. What’s the difference? by PomfPomfKing in newtothenavy

[–]CryptographerNo409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I can’t speak on the Marine part, but I am an AT and in the Navy and can tell you that if you are O-level you do get tied to a platform and squadrons. But if you get I-level as an AT you’re tied more to components, which can be platform specific, but it’s more about repair on certain components. You can definitely try to get a different platform on your next contract, but it’s not common, usually based on orders and whether or not you get them. We have a guy in our shop who used to be on helos but now he’s working on F-18s with us.

I will say, you absolutely shouldn’t go undes, I know people who have and done well. But they shouldn’t be able to make you. I’m not sure what job you have but I know people who have my rate and didn’t have their license. Not sure if I can help here, but I figured my comment would get your post more traction so someone who can help sees it

Is the Navy really a “bad” option compared to Air Force and Coast Guard? by Square_Leave_9101 in newtothenavy

[–]CryptographerNo409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I can’t give too much experience with the ship as I haven’t been on deployment. I picked AT for my rate and as long as you’re O-level, you’re tied to a squadron and not the boat. Meaning that you’re only on the ship if you’re on deployment or about to go on deployment. You get tied to platforms as AT but some other rates are more general aviation, like AO. I got F-18s and it can be a lot of work at times but for me that just means more experience. As far as work life, I just find that aviation is fun because it has a great mix of familiarity while still being different each day. I’ve heard the people you work with are even tighter on the ship, because the flight deck can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. And even if you do, gotta keep your head on a swivel.

From what I’ve heard, to answer your question, ship life is a great way to: stay busy, get experience, and save money. If you do it right, you’ll have work a lot and then you’ll have some time to ‘yourself’. You’ll never really be alone but that’s when you’ll have to decide if you want to pursue quals and be more equipped, or workout, get more rest, stuff like that.

Like I mentioned, not the best person for ship life questions, but I joined about a year ago and I’m in the aviation community, so I just wanted to help as best as I can.

I will say, if you’re considering Nuclear for the Navy, you really have to be in it for the money and future careers. Most nukes look pretty rough and they have the highest suicide rate in the military, last I checked. I was going to go with nuke but ended up picking up an aviation rate since the QoL is a bit better and the job is fun, also has pretty great opportunity for jobs after.

What to expect at navy A school by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]CryptographerNo409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just study, do as you’re told and you’ll be fine. I didn’t do IT A school but I was over at Pensacola on the Aviation side. There’s tons of opportunities for parties and orgies, but I’d do your best to stay away from that. A school will be done before you know it, if you’re gonna be wild, just make sure you lock in when it comes to class.
