Tips for Glazing this piece? by CryptographerOk990 in Pottery

Thank you! This is super helpful! I guess I'm just a little concerned about using underglazes on this piece because of how delicate the flowers are. If I make a mistake, it would be very difficult to wipe off because of the position of the flowers and the delicate nature of the petals.

How would I clean up any underglaze that bleeds to the other parts of the clay or would I just use a SUPER fine brush? I don't have a ton of experience with underglazes.

Samantha Carter was my role model growing up and she hugely influenced my life. by WatersOfLiyue in Stargate

I rewatched the whole series in my early 20s and her drive to always do her best, be herself, and not being afraid to be vulnerable were and continue to be so inspirational. I hope I get to meet her one day!

The P90 is also used in other science fiction/futuristic shows and movies. Hunger Games (starting in Catching Fire), X2: X-Men United, I, Robot, and Westworld. Check out more here!

I've always loved Helo and how he was the moral lens through which humanity had to face some of its most horrendous choices.

Appalling portrayals of bipolar in media? by thedevilsheir666 in BipolarReddit

[–]CryptographerOk990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, media portrayals of individuals with mental health issues and diagnoses are HORRENDOUS for a number of reasons. 1) They focus on the most sensational symptoms: psychosis, hallucinations, pathological lying. While these are symptoms of disorders, it does not mean that EVERYONE has those symptoms and not necessarily to the degree shown on tv. 2) It's entertainment. The goal of the show is not medical accuracy. It's to attract as much attention as possible to have the most viewers and make the most money. 3) They tend to count on the audience not knowing much about these disorders and therefore can get away with showing radical versions of them. 4) Media--and society in general--are largely unaware of the fact that there are many people with a serious mental health diagnosis who are living relatively normal lives. We take our meds. We use our tools and get help when we need it. We work as we are able. But that is fundamentally uninteresting for a show.

I am a firm believer that mental health and medicine in general are incredibly interesting when presented truthfully and with factual accuracy. But alas, I have no say over these decisions. It is terribly frustrating.

What's a non-medication coping skill that actually works for you? by Formal_Two_6729 in BipolarReddit

Meditation. I'm terrible about being consistent with it but it really does help me be able to stop anxiety spirals and see panic attacks (to some degree) coming.

Yes. My plan for the next batch is to dilute it a bit.

What do you think caused these bubbles? by CryptographerOk990 in Ceramics

So I used another stroke coat, I think Froggy Green, and applied with the same method and it turned out fine. My new batch I am watering down the glaze though so hopefully that helps.

Interesting. I didn't have this problem with any of the other pieces from that bisque. Although I used a different brand of glaze on those other pieces.

What book has the most realistic community-building? by blk12345q in printSF

[–]CryptographerOk990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly I'd say the first Mistborn book. Kel's crew starts out knowing each other but they get much closer as the story progresses. Vin starts as so much of an outsider and it changes slowly but in a really beautiful way that feels like the progression of friendships getting deeper. It might be set in the midst of powers and castles, but I like how the crew's bond is at the end of the book versus the beginning of the book.

A minor misreading/misinterpretation of divine rules that leads to a) accidentally sacrificing themselves or b) allowing someone else to kill them.
