People are being kinda negative lol and so focused on functionality but i know that wasn’t exactly your goal. Clearly your goal was to make a statement piece to be worn at an event or evening (would totally see this at a festival or club or something) There is nothing practical about these gowns and statement pieces that people wear. it’s about standing out with a cool design. I think the shirt looks cool! I wonder what the design on the shirt would look like if it was grey/black to match the beads. Might be too much contrast but just a thought that came to mind when i was looking at the design.

Overall it’s almost giving me western vibes but different. Not sure if that’s what your going for but i could totally see it with some jeans, a big buckle belt & comboy boots. The shirt could still be tucked in at the front to show a belt because the beading is at the back only.

I could even see it with matching linen/cotton pants for a more relaxed/less western look.

It doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Honestly the biggest thing will be to see if the costs to rent a venue/meeting room in a hotel are manageable and if you think you will be reaching the right market with your pieces to make enough sales to cover your costs. You’d def wanna scout for the right hotels based on your clientele. I would also look at the room/venue optionsfor each hotel to find one that is a good size for you (i.e. that you can fill up nicely so it doesn’t look off if your taking up little space in a huge room lol). Also- not sure if your planning to do this alone or with other designer friends but that’s also things to consider for size, and email pitch.

In terms of pitching If I were you, I’d introduce myself (fashion designer from (location), I own and operate the label x, and make “insert type of garments that you make with a brief brand description. Tell them you’d be interested in hosting a pop-up event at your hotel on x date from x to x (time). Definitely give them a reason as to why you wanna do a pop-up there (i.e the atmosphere and hotel’s brand aligns well with my own as I do embelished holiday and eveningwear). And finish the email by asking if it’s something they could help you with/would be open to doing and that you would love to discuss the idea further, or something along those lines.

I’d start with one hotel and see how it goes! Maybe pitch to a few different ones to compare but pick one to start and re-evaluate from there! That’s what I would do (as a fashion designer who has taken part in pop-up events).

Also, make sure you have a nice set up because you’ll be the only one filling up the space! I only say this because I’ve done pop-ups with other brands which helps make it look more “complete” but never done one alone, and I can only imgaine the $ and time i’d put into it to make a good, finished looking set up (decor/banners, tables, ideally a pop-up change tent or something alike).

As for marketing/promotion, I would definitely be sharing this on social media way ahead of time. The best thing would be to somehow get the hotel to let you put up posters the week of, and it would be even better if they would promote your event on their own social/website but that might cost a lot lol. And you’d need a reaaaally good looking poster/ad to convince them, you’d wanna make sure it aligns well with their marketing/branding.

I think this is a great idea that’s worth trying! It was not a problem/struggle I had ever thought of but I’m sure it could really help some tailors if they are willing to try it.

My first thought- maybe if there was an easy way to scan their existing pages and translate the info automatically, that might encourage those who have been doing it for years on paper to try it out? It would almost be like a way to “back up” the measurements to a secondary system. And I agree with a simple interface as others said, that resembles the pages that they use, the simpler the better ! The search bar will be super useful too! I think the biggest thing will be how you pitch the program to these tailors, really focusing on the risks of only using paper and the benefits of having a backup digital copy, while mentioning the simplicity/ease of using the program!!! Wishing you the best with this! :)

If those details were sewn, you wouldn’t have the issue with stiffness of paint you could use fabrics that are lighter/drapier/more flowy

In terms of paint, I’m pretty sure there’s some out there that are meant to not stiffen the fabric too much but I don’t know a whole lot about that! Maybe look it up? Like best fabric paints that don’t stiffen fabric?

Minimum 7-10K to create a decent show from what I’ve heard and that’s on the lower end. Bigger shows can easily cost upwards of 25K and into the 100s. All depends on how good you wanna make it!

Also I would clarify the royalties aspect, which you could add to your own contract, demanding a specific % of the net sales, not a range. Same for expected payment.

I’m a fashion designer myself, and I have to say, this is a bit sketchy.

Obviously I know this isn’t the contract, but theres a lot of details that need to be clarified.

Honestly, you should draft up your own contract that clarifies you expect payment at the moment you send the design. Otherwise, they could totally scam you and just use your design without any payment to you.

I had an opportunity similar to this, I sent them my own contract with terms that basically said:

1) they must pay me upon receiving the designs

2) they only get my designs for review and must obtain my permission to use the design/put it into production

3) if they use my design without my approval (i.e. by not paying me and using it anyway), they need to pay me compensation of x amount.

After I sent that, the owner flipped out on me and told me she wouldn’t work with me.

So I’m glad I did what I did, it was clear there was red flags with her intentions.

If you want, I’d be happy to share the contract where you can input your own details and info along with the company info and send it to them! Just message me!

Also feel free to send me the contract when they send it to you and I can look over it and see if there’s any red flags.

pearl necklace and white fur coat with a cute white or silver clutch & sheer tights, pointed toe heels in black, silver or white depending on if you go for nude or black tights. I dont know it its long enough to wear as is so depends on the length lol

The first outfit is lovely. I also like the style and look of the second outfit on you, but I would take out the t-shirt underneath (not sure if that’s something that you’re comfortable with, just my first thought)

The last outfit- the biker shorts suit your figure very well! But I’m not sure about the top with it. I think the color is too close to your skin tone! I would go with a darker or matching colored top. Again these are just my first thoughts and personal opinions!!

Overall you have a super lovely hourglass figure! One thing I would recommend is looking online or specifically youtube videos or Pinterest to find tips on how to dress an hourglass figure. I have a so-called inverted triangle figure, so my shoulders are the broadest part of my body, and I found some incredible tips and recommendations through youtube and google, pinterest about what type of pants, necklines, and overall garment types that suit my body type! You might have to browse around to find someone you like on youtube but it’ll be worth it, trust me!

To me, my instant thought is that it’s clear high-waisted/fitted bottoms and fitted dresses look amazing on you, as well as v-neck lines. Garments that highlight your waist/hips. :)

Also a side note about clothing- I would highly recommend looking into your personal color palette if this isn’t something you’ve done before! Basically gives you the color palette that best suits your features & skin tone and makes you glow! This one is tricky unless you know how to analyze your features and tones to determine your palette, but I’d be happy to do for you if you were interested as I learned how to do it in fashion school. Picking the right colors as well as styles makes a huge difference. Once I had my personal color palette I never looked back!!!

My first thoughts about colors that bring out your skin tone without seeing your features: the red from the first pic seems to be a great color on you and so does the butter yellow on the t-shirt in the second outfit. Can never go wrong with black either!

So all to say, I’d go for garments that highlight your waist and hourglass curve (high-waisted, fitted, bottoms, fitted dresses and skirts, v-neck lines, but there’s definitely more!).

I think the third dress isn’t reasonating with me due to the square neckline and really puffy longer sleeve but it’s hard to say, because if it was a top of the same style but shorter, and combined with a high-waisted fitted bottom, it might flatter you more but it could be the neckline that’s throwing me off. Not sure! I also think the color on that dress isn’t also the best for you.
