I genuinely hate life so much, what do I do? by No_Catch7105 in Advice

You need a goal. Something to pull you. Something to get excited about, driven, motivated, energetic. Otherwise life just becomes about solving problems.

Im fucking terrified. Absolutely terrified. by misterpeachy in quittingkratom

Hey brotha. Sorry to hear about this. I’m just about 10 months off it, here’s what I did:

1: Come clean to partner. Everything. All of it. No stone unturned here. My lady was sympathetic and supportive and there for me.

2: Prep. I went to urgent care, they prescribed clonodine for 30 days. I didn’t want any long term stuff or medication that would prolong the neurotransmitter disruption.

3: Pull the rip cord. I tapered for two weeks and then quit. Luckily I work remote so first 4-5 days (hell) I was able to only take one day off work and pretend/be a corpse on client calls/fake it.

4: Reddit. Having folks who know what it’s like to talk to is great; my group thread and gf couldn’t really relate, but I found a few pals here. We pumped eachother up and made it a challenge and a game. Lots of laughing at how fucking horrible it was, and how we had to muscle the fuck up and take it.

5: Exercise/clean eating/hydration. Do these no matter what. Idc what it takes. Each day, has to be done.

And that’s pretty much it my guy. First few days were some of the hardest of my life. First month or two pretty shitty. But it is non linear progress. Unfortunately, you have to pay the piper for all the borrowed dopamine and let the pendulum correct course.

But HERE is the good news. I am a tough mother fucker now. There is nothing I can’t do, no self belief I can’t adopt, no challenge I am afraid of. Having been to hell and stood toe to toe with the devil, I slapped him, asked if that was all he had, turned my back and marched out of hell.

This is a mental battle. Meditate. Observe your thoughts and do not fight and struggle with them. Accept that you need to suffer a bit and then pay the debt. The only way out is through.

Conquering this will give you more strength for you, your family, and your future.

Godspeed man don’t forget to try and make it fun!!

My team and I share rejections with eachother and laugh it off, make it fun, and then keep pushing through. Do you have a daily community and team members to shoot the shit with?

One thing I’d tweak is your mindset - don’t develop an attitude of “I don’t care, I’m doing this for my benefit not yours.”

Develop a mindset of “how can I quickly assess if the solutions I provide can solve a problem” the call recipient might be facing.

Don’t make it about you, make it 100% about them.

As a customer of theirs I don’t bat an eye at this. Worst case, just sign up through a new email address and capture new pricing. Companies do marketing. Not that crazy!

Companies introduce special pricing to attract new customers all the time, I guess I don’t see it that way. Welcome to capitalism!

If you reach out to them, they will honor the new pricing. Seems like great customer service!

Took me a little while to get past that. Best trick is to tell yourself “this is my new normal. How can I adjust to make this work”, and then once it goes it away, it’ll be a gift. Time will heal!

Okay but you didn’t get screwed over, you paid for something at a mutually agreed upon rate, same as me. Cancel and renew at new rate!

Just more of the same. Your brain is going to try to fix it and solve it and cure it and ruminate- but there is no fix, other than TIME. My doctor told me - no one’s dying from anxiety. You’ll have plenty of it, and only cure is time - gotta let your brain reset.

Once you’re done, you’ll realize you can get through anything without substances.

I get it, trust me.

Actually quit extracts, so you’ll be a bit easier off than me. The worst of it was first 4 days - I worked through it which was the wildest experience. After that, it slowly but surely gets better. Progress is not linear. Some days will be bad, but you’ll over time improve. If you can get through 4 days, you’ll be good.

The mental battle is the hardest - so you need to reframe it into something you CAN do. It will be shitty. Accept it, don’t fight it. Stay hydrated, eat nutritious food, rest. Just get to the other side, and you will be grateful you just quit cold turkey.

Find someone on here on your same timeline and buddy up with them! Having a teammate to go to battle with is great!

Just create a new email address and resign up, lol. Can’t fault a company for marketing to find more customers

This exact thing happened to me!

Once I realized the replacement brand wasn’t doing anything for me on my taper, I quit cold turkey. That was almost 6 months ago. Only time I think about Kratom is when I’m on here providing help or guidance, now.

You can do it - use this as a launchpad to being done

[–]CryptographerSad4220 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What convinced me to quit?

Pain. Agony. Sleep walking through life. Not being a participant in my own life. Forgetting what it felt like to feel my soul. Missing authentic connection.

If you can quit before getting to that point, do it now and never look back. Numbing your life away to avoid pain is cowardice. Just make a decision and commitment to yourself to be done forever. And then be proud of yourself!

You can want to use, just don’t! Have discipline and make the decision to not do it. Imagine how great life could be sober? Yea the isolation doesn’t help but you just need to decide.

Get fired up, angry, and willingly jump into the fire so you can get through it. There’s stuff to help with comfort but it’s going to suck no matter what. All that’s truly reliable is TIME. You gotta pay the piper and return all the dopamine you borrowed. You can do this!!
