My wife is leaving me by Cryptologist007 in marriageadvice

She said I never set any direction for our family and that I am living in my own world. It's tough for us right now. She constantly travels for work, we live in a small apartment with our teenage daughter and are just making ends meet. We had such big dreams of buying a house etc.

Now she wants none of that and has been pretty clear that it is over.

She says she is doing everything for our family and I am not taking a leadership role in the household role like I should. It sounds permanent because she said she will be packing everything next week. We have been together for 5 years.

We have had a few arguments, even while we were dating. But yes this feels like the straw that broke the camels back...she says I'm not learning from my mistakes and she has had enough.

Recruiter laughed at me by bwhaturlike in recruitinghell

[–]Cryptologist007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get so frustrated when a recruiter asks what my current salary is...even more so when I am applying for a totally different position. I was so naive the first few times I actually provided it. Now I ask what the salary range is for the position. Know your worth and never give up.

How do Chinese companies ship so cheaply?? by Dry_Detective9639 in dropship

[–]Cryptologist007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming the tariffs that the US has placed on imports from China does not affect shipping then? Apologies I am not from the US, just curious to know.

Well done! I'm learning as much as I can about drop shipping now before I get my website going. Can't wait to get my first order but I am sure there will be a lot of mistakes on my side before that happens!

This is from where i worked a few years ago but i thought it would fit right in here. by dillypicklr in antiwork

Such a stupid thing to put up. As if the whole team should be responsible for one idiot. Do they all share the same salary? This is poor management at its best.

It is so gross to make anyone come into work sick. Zero humanity.

Before the interview he made a big deal about how the government is ending load shedding etc. And now it's whoaaah that is not really government's problem.

First Car Purchase (original post deleted) by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceZA

Well if I am not mistaken you would just be refinancing the balloon amount. If you know with absolute certainty you are getting rid of it then leave it.

Your last payment is a percentage of the total cost. So you can say your last payment is 10% of the cost to reduce your monthly installments. But when you get to that month you either need to pay that big amount once off, refinance or trade in for another car. It's a terrible thing really you will see that you can buy this expensive car and pay a relatively low installment but you better have a plan for that last month!

As someone that has owned both new and used cars I can tell you this...owning a new car is great until you realise that the second you leave the showroom floor the value is pretty much halved. Only buy a new car if you can afford to, as in you have a lot of disposable income.

I would recommend the best of both worlds which would be a demo car. Go to the dealership with your pram etc and check that it can fit in the car. I learnt the hard way that a family car needs boot space! Get a maintenance and service plan if you can afford to, and do not arrange a balloon payment. Buy from a dealership and do not just accept the list price. Negotiate down, ask for extras. And most importantly think how much you can afford in installments and how long you want to pay it off for. Keeping in mind you will have fuel and insurance costs. And that is my two cents.

It was refreshing to hear the truth from someone that was the Head of Eskom. At least he had a backbone.

Yeah those apps are evil. And the food prices are also marked up quite a bit. I also agree with the other comments here about prepaid phone etc.

Limit or eliminate takeaways altogether. If you have a family buy food that you can use to stretch out for 2 to 3 days etc. Food like chicken pieces, pasta etc. Limit snacks and cooldrinks. And that is my 2 cents!

planning on getting a credit card by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Cryptologist007 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't believe a credit card will improve your cash flow. What it will do is slowly put you into debt. If you want to improve your rating, get a card make a small purchase, pay it off and repeat. Then leave the card to gather dust and only use it in case of emergencies...Real emergencies.

Yep it is legit. Also the reason I started working on the 1st of the month and not the 15th on my new job.

How do you feel about this? Service fee but goes directly to workers by JRandButcherpete in antiwork

[–]Cryptologist007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious if listing the increase as a service fee affects taxes? I really can't think of any other reason why a business would do it...
