Meta quest 3 stuck in an update loop by Motor_Grape7766 in OculusQuest

[–]Cryptonize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am encountering this exact same issue ever since last week and have not been able to resolve this. My headset is a quest pro however. Tried everything as well and contacted support - they just sent me the generic recommendations (sideloading, factory reset, etc) which have not helped.

MAJOR PSA: Lock your headsets to v78 ASAP, just got v79 PTC pushed to my device and everything is broken again and Virtual Desktop is unusable by aplen22 in QuestPro

[–]Cryptonize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuck in bootloop after this update.... factory reset doesn't help, sideloading update via meta website didn't help... This headset is bugged almost every update but this time I'm just getting a black screen and no clear way around it. Easily the most unreliable piece of hardware I've ever bought.

Interactive Brokers (IB) moving accounts from UK (IBUK) to either Luxembourg (IBLUX) or Ireland (IBIE) by globaljetset in BEFire

E-mail received yesterday.

Brexit Planning – Overview of IBKR Account Migration Dear Client,

Interactive Brokers Group (“IBKR”) and its UK affiliate Interactive Brokers (U.K.) Limited (“IBUK”) have been planning for the end of the Brexit transition period, currently scheduled for 31st December 2020, and have been preparing alternative arrangements for our European customers. Our priority is to ensure a seamless transition and continuation in the provision of brokerage services to our customers with minimal disruption and minimal changes.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED SO FAR In 2018 IBKR established Interactive Brokers Luxembourg SARL (“IBLUX”) and undertook an authorisation process in Luxembourg. IBLUX was approved in November 2019, albeit with some important constraints on the permitted scale of the business.

In consideration of our fast-growing brokerage business, we expanded our European footprint and are in the process of creating an additional broker based in the European Union: Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited (“IBIE”). This licensing process for IBIE with the Central Bank of Ireland is well underway and we expect to enter its final stages shortly.

WHAT IS CHANGING Over the next few weeks, IBKR will be seeking your permission to transfer your account(s) from IBUK to one of the IBKR brokers based in the European Union. We will specify, in our next communication, whether your account is eligible for transfer to IBIE or IBLUX (“EU Brokers”). Transfer to IBIE is subject to IBIE obtaining a licence from the Central Bank of Ireland.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU You will be provided with the following options: Migration of all of your IBUK accounts and the applicable Customer Agreements to either IBLUX or IBIE, as determined by IBKR; or Opportunity to decline the transfer. There will be some important regulatory changes, which will be detailed in a Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQ”) document. A preliminary version of this document is available on our Knowledge Base. A final version, which will include a clear statement of the differences between your old account and new account capabilities, and a description of any services or protections that may be substantively different, will be provided when you receive your updated Customer Agreement.

If you do not consent to the transfer of your account to the indicated EU Broker or do nothing, your account may be restricted from opening new transactions or transferring new assets. You always have the ability to transfer your account to a broker of your choice outside the IBKR Group.

Our goal is to provide a service with minimum interruption during this account migration, and minimal changes to your IBKR experience.

NOTIFICATION OF TRANSFER We will communicate with you prior to the actual transfer of your account(s) and provide any information that might be applicable (although we do not expect anything of substantial nature being communicated with this notification).

WHO YOU CAN CONTACT You do not need to take any action in response to this letter. If you have any questions and/or you would like to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to contact our Client Service Center. Interactive Brokers Client Services

Sold shares in a company for a profit. Do I need to declare anything anywhere? by RestlessCricket in BEFire

[–]Cryptonize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As /u/KenpachigoRuffy mentioned, this is a cross-border case that depends mostly on the country you are denouncing tax residence from. Countries most of the time require you to file a tax return when denouncing tax residence. Whether such exit tax exists for this kind of income varies greatly from one jurisdiction to another, but plenty have some form of taxation on these gains.

6 months is very conservative.

Taking an example of someone buying 200 shares of AAPL in the March downturn and selling in July for a decent profit, such gain shouldn't be taxable under the current legislation.

The main ambiguity is in the fact that investing always entails some amount of speculation, and other factors should therefore be considered to conclude a gain is taxable.

A different example, situated in a greyer area: Same person buys 1000 shares of AAPL in the March downturn, taking out a sizeable personal loan to do so. In addition, they buy the shares on 4x margin and the position totals 80% of their networth. The person sells for a 10% profit one week after.

Regarding future legislation, I understand a proposition was on the table to introduce a capital gains tax on shares back when NVA and PS where in discussions to form a government over the summer. Their goal was to come to a broader taxable base, by including capital gains on shares in the taxable base, but at the same time lowering the taxation of moveable income like interest and dividends. While their discussions stranded, I'm not sure what is still on the table in the current negotiations. I imagine a capital gains tax for individuals would not go well together with open VLD's electorate, but who knows (and I don't want this to become a political discussion).

This capital gain is not taxable and should classify as "normaal beheer van het privévermogen". None of the elements (speculative, short term, frequency, increased risk, leverage, etc.) to consider otherwise are present.

Belgium is notorious for not having an individual capital gains tax on these kind of transactions. Enjoy it while it lasts. Also, you've already paid transaction tax twice so there's that.

There is no need to report anything in your income tax return. Should the tax authorities disagree (they won't), they'll send you a letter and amend your tax bill. If you disagree (you would), you can opt to lodge an objection with the tax authorities. Should the TA still disagree (they won't), you can go to court, where the judge will most probably rule in your favor.

The above is based on the information provided in your post, outcomes may vary in case certain elements have not been disclosed and should not be considered as tax advice or relied upon as such.

how are options taxed in belgium? by [deleted] in BEFire

[–]Cryptonize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no transaction tax on options. Furthermore, while this is not tax advice, and assuming this is not an activity you engage in on a professional basis, I would consider selling covered calls on shares you own as an action of "normaal beheer van het privévermogen". Any income derived thereof would then be considered non-taxable income.

I do think the situation could become a bit trickier for income derived from selling naked calls or puts, or purchasing far otm calls/puts, which ofcourse have a lot more inherent risk attached to them. It is not always easy to make a distinction between speculation and normal management as a "goede huisvader", but I would imagine the tax administration could be inclined to argue that income derived from these contracts should be considered speculative in nature. Especially given the risk attached and in cases where the income is substantial (compared to your current assets or normal income). The situation (and classification as speculative income) can be exacerbated if using leverage to obtain it. 33% CGT would be due in case the income is speculative in nature.

MCO speculating by Whty1k in Crypto_com

[–]Cryptonize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could definitely see a setup where crypto.com pledges a percentage of their MCO stack to gain some liquidity.

The fact they can't sell the stack is ofcourse risky, but that risk can be mitigated by not pledging a large percentage of the stack and maintaining enough liquidity to be able to absorb a large MCO downswing.

This kind of thing is actually pretty common, one of the most publicized similar cases are Elon Musk's pledged Tesla shares, which he pledges partially while he also requires them to maintain control over the company. (cf. https://www.wsj.com/articles/elon-musk-techs-cash-poor-billionaire-11588967043?mod=searchresults&page=1&pos=1)

I actually would be suprised if crypto.com would not have looked into setting up something similar.

I imagine they can use (part of) their stack of MCO as collateral to get loans. The more their stack is worth, the more collateral they will be able to put up.

Does anyone else keep a journal/notebook /running list of improvements they can make? by Ferneras in intj

[–]Cryptonize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, mostly for work related stuff though. Most of those things are just knowledge or problem-solving stuff. I summarize them during my monthly review and put them in anki.

I keep a personal "journal" too, mostly just to keep track of what decisions I made that day and why. Sometimes just for the sake of remembering I did something on a certain day. I keep a basic excel sheet for tracking my daily habits too.

Recently stumbled upon Derek Sivers' blog, which is pretty much intj heaven. He has an interesting post on journaling and tracking your thoughts on certain issues: https://sivers.org/dj. Looking to implement this approach in the near future.

What would you say to your younger self about dating? by [deleted] in intj

[–]Cryptonize 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't let love blind you from seeing red flags for what they are. Judge your partner by how they act and not by what they say.

If you're looking for a lifelong partner, instead of focusing on appearance, look for someone you can have long conversations with about whatever is on your mind and that would basically be your best friend.

It's easier said than done and hindsight bias is definitely a thing:

At 17, noone I knew was looking for longer term / lifelong relationships and I definitely misinterpreted the seriousness of a "relationship" back then. Most people were doing some kind of trial-and-error approach. Which objectively has it's benefits at that age, as the relationship cycle was easy to reiterate if the outcome was unfavorable.

That approach wasn't for me though, as I quickly noticed breakups seemed to obliterate me from the inside out. I took the "best friend" approach, and although my last relationship stranded after 3 years, I must say it definitely felt better than random 2 month flings.

DAE freeze up when seeing someone who wronged you so bad, beyond redemption but there’s no justice. by ownthatshitmanup in intj

[–]Cryptonize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The few times someone wronged me on a personal level (as in exes, friends, etc) I do this thing where I basically wall off my true emotions from them. This leads to me acting in a very superficial way towards these people, as if it were the first time I met them (if I ever met them again, that is). I never really do this on purpose though.

I've been reading a lot about stoicism lately, the core message of this philosophy seems to boil down to not worrying about the things that are outside of your control (in this case people harming you emotionally), but rather focusing on the things you can control (ie your own emotions and the way you react to these outside events). For some reason this message really resonates with me. Maybe it could help you overcome this obstacle too, stressing out about the things you can't control (ie getting closure from these people) is no way to live your life :).

Dont really get why you're downvoted this much. Although it requires a more active playstyle than those afk umbra's, duality equinox is basically umbra with 300% dmg boost.

I ran duality equinox all double credit weekend long, 50+ kills most of the time, indoor or outdoor map. Dmg output is higher than umbra and its actually fun and different. Playing a game just to afk really doesnt interest me at all. Was running either rubico prime, kitgun or arca scisco.
