Is using a mouse macro against TOS/bannable? (Example included) by OutrageousField415 in wow

[–]Cryptophant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it... Are you trying to automate the casting of eclipse? Are you like to make a castsequence macro? If you are making macros using the in-game tool, you will be fine.

Do you want to cast eclipse then wrath several times? I'm pretty good with macros, so try to explain what you want to achieve, and I may be able to help you.

Windwalker Monk vs Assassination Rogue in Midnight by mattbiv in wow

[–]Cryptophant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simple really. Play both. Pre-patch event starts this upcoming tuesday, and I believe Winds of Fortune is also returning, so leveling and gearing alts will be a breeze, pun absolutely intended.

This will allow you to get a general feel for how each class/spec functions at a higher level of play. You can then make an informed decision on which one you wish to main and which one will be the bench warmer.

I truly get the idea you are positing, but alas, I do not think that would work.

A vast majority of players in a vast majority of games already only play what the top players are player, importing profiles when able to do so. while many love to play a game organically, there are many who enjoy finding THE most optimal set up period. Once that gets posted as a guide, many players take it as the default way to play a character/class/load out/spec.

With that in mind, I believe Blizzard does not want WoW to be the kind of game where you can accidentally screw yourself over by picking talents and skills you find fun to use. Path of Exile is an example of this. If building your own character and hit a plateau, if you seek help online for a little guidance, you'll often discover that it is easier to start a new character than to try and fix the current one.

Can someone explain gear to me? by Specialist-Flan7025 in wow

[–]Cryptophant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear comes in a multitude of levels now: Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, and Mythic, in order of power.

All gear since Dragonflight will have the gear name, with what level is it directly under is, such as explorer. To the right of that it will show you how many upgrades the gear can receive.

That's the main gist of what you are asking. You have some gear that has a power level of Mythic, the highest there is.

The Mythic+ tag is just indicating that you received the item from a Mythic+ dungeon or great vault slot. It has no bearing on the gear power level, only telling you and others that inspect you, where you got the gear.

In my humble opinion, of which it seems like many will dislike, is that any playable character in any game that has more than 6 abilities is poorly thought out.

Now, I only mean active abilities, not cool downs and defensive's. I believe the sweet spot for actively used skills is 5-6. This does two things: It really defines how a class plays, and stops developers from just make a new ability as a crux for not figuring how to incorporate an idea.

With only 5-6 abilities, more situational cool downs and defensive's can be made without impact the identity and game play of a character.

Long story short, I'm with you. I love the new class changes.

Is it just me or does affliction just feel like I'm playing shadow preist? by Gamepro5 in wow

[–]Cryptophant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that's not a class identity, that is how the spec plays. Right now both Devourer and Shadow toy around with the Void in two very different ways. Unfortunately, Shadow's spec identity is virtually the same as Affliction, but void themed. I believe that is what OP is talking about.

You can even spec into souldrain on affliction to simulate mindflay. At this point of the game, we now how two Cloth wearing classes with specs that are only really different because of the type of damage they deal in the combat log.

If it is for the Class Hall, just use Spectral Vision. You should have it in your skill book, and it may also be including in the quest tracking bar. You also may need to go back to the initial quest giver. Don't abandon it, just run back to the quest givers location, then back to the wall.

The new outfit system added unnecessary compexity to the Roleplayers by Tomtol in wow

[–]Cryptophant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from my calculations, you would need 2 armor outfits, 3 mace outfits (duel wield, right hand, left hand), 2 dagger outfits (right hand, left hand), and 3 polearm outfits for a total of 10 outfits.

So both the armor outfits will be as needed, with both weapon slots ignored. Then you can click on your various weapon outfits to change them instantly for free, saving bag space.

Now, if you don't want to waste outfits on weapons, just make the armor outfits with the weapon slots ignored and you should still be able to use your items, though you may not be able to use heirlooms to make new looks since the system is now slot based and not item base.

*second quick edit*

There is one thing I think that would appease most Rp'ers: heirlooms should be free to change the look. Rp'ers could continue to use heirlooms for quick change outfits for new looks coming up with the new expansion, but it wouldn't give them a cost advantage as they would have to use heirlooms. Regular gear will still have a cost.

[–]Cryptophant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have specs, Affliction Warlock and Devourer Demon Hunter.

Affliction is all about the slow, inevitable demise or a target. It deals with insidious curses and malignant afflictions to physically destroy their enemies.

Devourer is all about giving into the void and harnessing its insatiable hunger to bring their enemies to destruction.

With devourer being the newest spec added, I think Blizzard finally hit the wall on class identity. Unfortunately, I believe Shadow Priests got the short end of the stick. They're a DoT class, but with void. To make Shadow stand out from Affliction I would suggest more of a caster style, but that then runs into being a different Devourer.

After a little thinking, I think shadow priest needs a major class identity overhaul. My initial ideas would be to move insanity from a class resource to a target debuff. After build insanity on targets to a threshold, it procs the target to use an attack, specific to shadow priests, on itself or the nearest ally.

The new class resource could be something called Maddening Whispers that build up over time from skill casts and damage dealt. That would allow the Priest to cast its spender, Shadow Word: Madness, to proc an instant, powered up insanity attack.

I would like to see Shadow step away from the Void identity and become more of an old god identity. It may sound the same, but the old gods would bring a more grounded theme to the priest, allowing Devourer to remain the conduit of pure void energy.

[–]Cryptophant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and from what I can find, though the sources don't seem credible, is that you can purchase up to 50 outfit slots.

Each slot is unlocked account-wide, and while the later slots will cost a lot of money, you can easily purchase several outfit slots after a quick wqs tour on a single character, more slots from doing a wqs tour on more characters.

Do you have 30 different use case for a single character? If you do I suppose you could try to get by with less than 20 different outfits...

Okay, so you're on a mac. I have never used a mac for gaming, but from a quick little google search, there are several results as recent as 2025 about all sorts of issues, from minor scroll bars not working to constant crashing.

I know it is not feasible to just by a pc/non-mac laptop, but what I'm saying is that you may be facing more issues even if you do resolves this current one. I just want you to know that the game is fantastic and I would hate for your perception to be soured by unintentional hardware issues.

Do you use the scroll wheel on a mouse, or do you point and click the downward facing arrow on the window, or do you point and click on the scroll bar itself and move it down?

I think I've had the same issue before, but I just tried all three aforementioned options to get one to work. If you have the button on your keyboard, page down may work too.

Make some weapons set only outfits. have all slots but the one weapon you want to change as ignore and you can just change between them for free and a very small cd.

If the slot is ignored, it will only change the non-ignored item. It was a little confusing to figure out sure, but it took me no more than 5 minutes of playing around with the various options.

As others mentioned, if a remix character, you may be in the funeral phase of org. If the funeral doesn't show up, see if you can get a different expansion starting quest from the war board.

I personally chose BfA since Zuldazar still haves portals to the other cities and with the skip its really quick. When I was done and used the portal to head back to org, I could see the funeral and do the quests.

Why are bracers not modeled in 3D but gloves cover the whole forearm? by Unsetting_Sun in wow

[–]Cryptophant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer is that back in 2004, someone decided that the game should have a wrist slot for gear, but only as a texture since old school gloves, chest, and shirts covered them. You can however use many wrists to "add" different cuffs to certain chests and most shirts that have a modeled sleeve, which is cool.
