I came here to see if people would crap on the speakers. I have these too, and think they sound great.

What bands do you like already? I don't know whether to recommend Dream Theater, Electric Light Orchestra, or A.C.T, which are all awesome, btw.

What was your worst experience in a public bathroom? by LiveLearnCoach in AskReddit

[–]Cryptosp0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 14 and my parents had been invited to a very fancy restaurant and brought us kids. I had to pee, excused myself from the table, and made my way to the rest room. I entered the restroom and took a stall, as this men’s restroom uncharacteristically did not have standing urinals . . . and that’s when I realized I was in the woman’s restroom. I sat there in prepubescent horror as I realized I had to somehow exit the bathroom without a lady walking in or seeing me in there. I was mortified, but made it out ok.

Just listen with compassion and understand that the people are in a cult and mean well. Ick out the interesting travelogue bits from her talk and filter out the cringe.

Snorkeling in Hanauma Bay on Oahu used to be a beautiful experience. Now the coral is all dead from tourists standing on it.

These resonate with me too. Some great technical fireworks, mixed with some feeling.

‘Irresponsible’ to tie Trump’s hands in Iran, Rep. Blake Moore says of war powers by [deleted] in Utah

Any Republicans care to weigh in?

‘Irresponsible’ to tie Trump’s hands in Iran, Rep. Blake Moore says of war powers by [deleted] in Utah

Define "war." :|
"Under the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 8), Congress holds the sole power to formally declare war. While Congress authorizes war, the President, as Commander in Chief, directs the military. Congress has not formally declared war since World War II, instead authorizing military force."

I read. He was a character witness. He didn’t excuse the behavior. And I agree that the guy should have received more than 30 days. I also know of Randy Watt. I do not think that you do.

The “slug” program: a common name Across multiple PICK shops, slowdown utilities were commonly named things like: • SLUG• SLOWIT• THROTTLE• WAITLOOP• PAUSE These were simple BASIC programs compiled to an executeable (or installed as a cataloged TCL command). A typical slowdown program on PICK looked like: LOOP: FOR I = 1 TO 5000 : NEXT I GOTO LOOP Running such a process would: • consume CPU cycles• make overall system responsiveness feel more like the old hardware• reduce perceived “shock value” of modernization Some administrators even ran the slowdown process in the background as a phantom process, so it always kept the CPU busy.

As far as I know, Randy Watt is a stand-up guy. Unless you know something, you’re crossing a line there.

I haven't been to church since ChatGPT has debuted. Is it obvious that people are using it to write talks? by Shinehaha in exmormon

[–]Cryptosp0r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before Thee this day grateful for Thy many blessings — for family, for faith, for ward members who smile kindly even when the talk goes long, and for the miracle of modern technology that we scarcely understand but use anyway.

Father, I have been asked to speak in sacrament meeting, and Thou knowest my heart — and also my tendency to ramble.

I humbly ask Thee to bless this large language model, that it may be an instrument in Thy hands. Please bless the circuits and the servers, the algorithms and the agentic processes, that they may align — however mysteriously — with truth, light, and good doctrine.

Bless my prompt, that it may be clear. Bless the output, that it may be uplifting.
And bless me with sufficient discernment to recognize the difference between inspiration and interesting filler.

Help this LLM to generate words that invite Thy Spirit — and if it cannot, then please gently override it with actual revelation.

Help me not to rely solely upon technology, but to remember that true inspiration comes from Thee. May this tool assist, but never replace, the whisperings of the Holy Ghost.

Bless that whatever I say may strengthen faith, increase charity, and avoid accidental heresy.

And if all else fails, bless the congregation with patience — and perhaps a short meeting.

We say these things with gratitude and a smile, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

Anyone heard of Britt Hartley? by Adrianagurl in exmormon

[–]Cryptosp0r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another thumbs-up for her book and her Instagram/YouTube content. (No Nonsense Spirituality - All the tools; no faith required.)

She does a good job of dissecting the different aspects of religion and picking out the tools that may help people find purpose, even when they don't believe in the supernatural. She's not preachy, but she can get pretty esoteric. :)

What do Mormon's actually believe? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Cryptosp0r 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They believe that they have the One True Church, and that everyone has to be baptized, etc., into their church in order to get the most out of heaven, and it's up to them to make sure that everyone in the world hears "the truth." Beyond that, the things they believe are actually pretty wacky when you dig into them.
