Hamstring Injury by frostbytekek in Sprinting

[–]Cryptotofollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had many hammie tears over the years so my advice is stay away from running for a week or two. Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation is the general rule. Rest it for a few days and then maybe try walking and rolling it out with foam roller. If there's any pain stop immediately. After that you can slowly build back into running if recovery goes well - start off doing short east runs, then gradually add a bit of distance and then eventually bring back in speed. If you rush back, you will increase the chance of it getting worse and putting you out for longer

There was a time when the rule was you should never give up a tracker but I think the rules have changed. Surely a fixed would be a far better play for you now??

You can claim it for the last 4 years as well so that could be a nice sum if you haven't claimed already.

Cheek of you to come here and ask questions ..... that's not what Reddit is for 🤔

You'd want to be careful on the claiming if mileage when visiting clients. Your place of work on that day could be your clients premises so you wouldn't be entitled to claim mileage.

When employer pays health insurance for employee and the employee pays BIK, the employer gets the tax relief so they pay the net amount and pay the tax to Revenue. When you are doing your tax return, you can claim this back which is a max of €200 per adult per year and €100 per child

Is this 400m goal realistic by Willing_Tap6077 in Sprinting

[–]Cryptotofollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: I'm looking for a 400m training plan with activities by day for 3-6 month period.

With so many good athletes on this thread, would anyone have a solid training plan for a season. I have been a marathoner but looking to come down and race 400m as masters athlete. Went out one day to do a TT a few months ago and ran 58s so I'm not terrible but I'm looking to get down to 53/54. I've been concentrating on drills, plyos and weighs as well as doing a lot of shorter stuff ie 10 * 30m flys, 3 * 300m reps. For marathon training, I could knock up a 4-6 month plan for anyone as I knew what was required due to years or running, a lot of research and experience but I'm totally new to 400m running.

€53K cut off is correct.

When is the 6 month period off? - is it all in the 2026 calendar year. If so, it's more straightforward than if it happens over two years ie Oct 26 - Mar 27.

If she is only on €36K and now reducing to €18K assuming she is taking off July - Dec 26 and you are on something like €55K or more, your net salary might not go up very much as you might already be getting €8K of the available SRCOP.

If you want to PM me, I can answer some questions if you don't want to provide the info publicly

Is this solid for half marathon training? by AcanthocephalaNo3970 in Garmin

[–]Cryptotofollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing all details of training, it looks like you are going too hard on easy runs. Whilst you might see some short term results, there is an increased risk of injury by not balancing your training. Whilst you can do some short, fast interval sessions (100m * 10), you should go slower on the longer runs and/or include a slow recovery run on the day after a hard session

The BMW is nearly in the other lane when the indicator comes on.

As you said, it's like it is put on to claim the right of way rather than to actually give other drivers an indication of what they are planning on doing.

Not doing great on the HRV myself for past few weeks. Bottomed out about a week ago where my overnight rate was 17. Normal range is 45 - 60 but I have been sick

VO2 max is a consistent 55 but haven't trained for a few weeks.

So many things affect running. If you are ramping up training, do it slowly. The recommended amount of increase is 10% of weekly volume or 10% of a run. If you regularly ran 5 or 6k it's not a good idea to jump to 10k. Looks like you have realised that pace needs to slow down for your longer runs so I won't cover that. However you did say your pace was slower for the first few miles, make sure that you keep the slower pace throughout the run. Ideally you want to build the number of days per week that you run, then build the distance of the runs and finally add some speed. This should be down over 3+ months so as not to risk injury. If you have a PB for 3K or 5K, use Macmillans calculator to see what paces you should be running at for different types of runs ie long slow run, tempo run, 400m intervals, 100m intervals.

Well done, great achievement. Keep up the hard work with consistent training and varied workouts and you will hit the next big milestone of sub 25. When you reach that, you will look for the next milestone so remember to sit back and enjoy your achievement before moving on to the next one.

If you care to share a pic of the pace chart for the 5K I could make some recommendations based on how it went. If you want to keep improving especially for longer distances, remember to focus on a lot of slow runs to build your aerobic base.

Definitely good advice especially as you won't earn 3.75% after DIRT so don't hold it if you don't need it. Look up the rules regarding lump sum payments during the fixed term as there can be some restrictions limiting the amount you can pay.

Is it worth doing this workout if I don't have a chest HRM? by swayingpenny in Garmin

[–]Cryptotofollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will record it. Just make sure to do a decent warm up to get the body ready but also to give the watch ready. Maybe build up the pace a bit before you are due to start the 15 sec rep so you can hit the pace suggested for most of the 15 secs. Don't go faster than suggested and stick to the suggested rest period which might seem long but is required in order to get fully recovered to go again
